Paxton filed a suit in Texas that tried to overturn Trump's 2020 election loss by suing battleground states for changes to election laws that were allegedly not Constitutional. The lawsuit failed. The Texas State Bar later sued Paxton for trying to overthrow the election.

Trump pardoned Bannon who had been charged for fraud but who hadn't yet gone to trial for the 'We Build The Wall' scheme. Two of Bannon's associates, Brian Kolfage and Andrew Badolato, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, wire fraud, and making false statements on a tax return. George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI and was pardoned by Trump. Rick Gates pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI. Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman pleaded guilty to defrauding investors. Trump says he never knew them after they did multiple photo-ops with him, including some at the White House where they were standing next to Trump along with VP Pence and Giuliani. Parnas attended a White House dinner with Trump. Broidy pleaded guilty to acting as an unregistered foreign agent. Trump pardoned him. Patten pleaded guilty to failing to register as a foreign agent Nader pleaded guilty to violating U.S. campaign finance laws Weisselberg was found guilty on all 17 counts for a 13-year long criminal tax fraud scheme. Navarro's criminal contempt of Congress trial has been delayed until after the end of March 2023 over issues of executive privilege. He is also being investigated for his role in the scheme to overthrow the 2020 election for Trump.
