There is reportedly some chance that Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, will not be reelected, at least on a first ballot. If anyone doesn't like Johnson and would like to see him squirm a little, I'm not against that so much, but there are a few outcomes both Democrats and Republicans should try to avoid. Such as: 1 Chaos. There are a lot of things that could go wrong if we don't have a Speaker, and no matter what, it's just a bad look for the US government. 2 Somebody worse than Johnson gets elected. Things are bad enough as it is, the House becoming more dysfunctional is hard to imagine. 3 Johnson gets reelected, but has to make some concessions to a wing-nut faction of the House to do that. I hope both Democrats and Republicans both will consider supporting him, if it's necessary. Find Your Representative | house.gov Find Your Representative | house.gov
