When I lived back east, I didn't recall any natural disasters. We had some heavy snowfall that stopped schools from opening. I lived in apartments growing up and never experienced floods.
When I moved to the west coast, I had experienced heavy winds that knocked down electrical and phone wires. These same winds knocked down trees and fences. The westerners are also not unfamiliar with earthquakes.
Later in my life, I experienced fires; Pacific Palisades and Altadena were the big ones early in 2025. Several people where I work lost their homes. I was only 5 miles or so away from some of the burning embers but was lucky enough to be safe from the ravaging damage.
I hate to think of comparative disasters. Best not to be around any of them.
