Mahalo, haole

I've been watching too much Hawaii Five-0.

Hawaii became a state the year I was born. As of today, no other state has been created. It's a pretty place and it has diversity from island to island. I had wondered about living there, but my last trip reminded me why I say, "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there."

I'm not an outdoors person. The place is known for the sand and surf as well as the sunshine. None of that appeals to me. Being in the sun is something I shy away from. It's also a pricey place to live. I remind people that pricey places to live often times offer jobs that pay better than elsewhere.
