More Insights Into Me.

Like I've told people before, part of the problem with how I handle social interactions is that I'm too rational. And I don't consider sometimes subtle parts of social situations. What is appropriate to say and where it is appropriate to say it, and who you should say it too. One doctor said I obviously have autism. And I've heard that autistic people often have less emotion and are more rational. I have always thought that was my strength, but it can lead to problems too. And I don't think anyone ever fully gets all human social action. Also I took two psychology classes in community college in 1995. I hoped they'd offer insight into what was wrong with me then. They didn't because didn't go into too much detail of things. But they talked of psychology of person, the ability to predict the responses of others. I know I have a pretty good sense of psychology of person usually. But it's not perfect, and I have noticed mine is a little different that others when I heard that term in 1995.

But many of my problems with being too rational in social interactions reminds me of the problems the fictional android Lieutenant Commander Data on Star Trek has. The following are some quotes from him that talk of that. The first one is interesting because chief engineer Lieutenant O'Brien told Lt. Commander Data he wanted only what was best for Keiko. So it would make sense that hearing she was cancelling the wedding should only make him happy then. Actually, in that scene Data was right and Lt. O'Brien wrong. But Data also didn't realize the subtle social reasons why you shouldn't say that and why he should have never gotten involved even if he could have helped that way. And the quote from stardate: 42923.4 in the episode Peak Performance is interesting because in it Data was actually over-analyzing a situation and over-preparing, which I tend to do sometimes. Which is why when I first heard that episode I thought they may have gotten those lines from me.
