Depends on how you define unbearable haha.

In Vancouver it doesn't snow much and doesn't get very cold in the winter, but it also has one of the most expensive housing markets in the world...

In Toronto and southern Ontario in general, where most of us live, it will get down to like -5 or -10C pretty regularly in January and February. Up here (3-4 hours north), we see closer to -15 or -20 as regular temps in Jan/Feb.

On the east coast it usually doesn't get as cold, but they get a shitload of snow and the wind off of the ocean can be brutal. Still, I love it out there.

 

I would define unbearable as no chance of polar bears roaming the streets.

We're just dreaming at this point but we are hoping to make a move out of this area in maybe 5 years, and since the ministry has fallen in the US we thought Canada might be a nice change

Also we have legal marijuana. Not like the Netherlands and their pseudo-legal but not really legal weed.

It's just as legal here for consumption It's the commercial growing and distributing it to the coffeeshops that's illegal.
Do you have something similar as the dutch coffeeshops over there, eggs? Not trying to rub something in here , im seriously wondering!

We do, but they are still illegal and only in bigger cities (Toronto, Vancouver, etc.). There has been talk about opening some legal ones here, but I'm not sure if it will happen.

Our tobacco laws are very strict - no smoking inside at all, and now you aren't allowed to smoke on the property of a restaurant/bar/coffee shop at all (even on the patio). Same for vaping nicotine. Not sure how they would get around those laws for weed. Maybe if it was a 'private club' or something - there are a few cigar lounges that get around the laws that way.
