I’m interested in peoples’ differing tolerances for what kind of things they like to feel on their feet. What’s the most conventionally gross thing you don’t care to step in-or even enjoy stepping in? Dirt? Mud? Manure? What other things do you like on your feet? I’m pretty boring, I just like to feel natural surfaces-especially squishy ones like mud. I don’t like any kind of feces or remains or anything like that, but I’m interested in different experiences.

I really like to walk across a lawn, stroll on a beach or hike on a forrest trail. I hate stepping on things that hurt!

I enjoy grass, especially damp or wet grass, mud, mud puddles, sand, smooth stones, and rocks, smooth concrete, hardwood floors carpet. As for gross things, I don’t mind horse or cow manure don’t ask why, but I don’t care for dog poop and definitely not human.

I'm fine with stepping on anything as long as it doesn't hurt me, I have walked into public bathrooms barefoot and stepped in manure before. My favorite thing to step in is probably soft mud and puddles. I like how the mud squishes between my feet especially after it rains

Well, I have walked on snow, and there will be pain from it after a certain time. Freezing temperatures tend to do that to one's skin. But the feeling is so unique before that, I just can't resist.

I will most definitely NOT be stepping on shit, unless completely by accident. I'm revolted by the very idea of all the infectious nasties one could catch from that. Nuh-uh, no way.

I had an encounter with broken glass from a broken bottle last year, and that left me with bleeding, albeit rather small cuts to my feet. Definitely another one to avoid, because the healing process takes time away from proper barefooting, and the open cuts, again, invite infections.

Soil, wet grass, and mud are my favourites, but a nice warm pavement in the summer is good too

I used to love the gritty feel of the floors in old mom-and-pop stores, like a deli, where you pick up a light powder of dirt on your soles. Never liked hot pavement.

Stepped on a cigerette someone threw on the sidewalk at a 7-11. Definetely hated that.

I had some toughness from going barefoot too. Not as much as you. Fortunately, the 7-11 floor was smooth and cold and felt so good, lol. The burn took only a short time to heal.

The floors at the radio station where I work are like that! That’s always fun. My favorite is mud, the sloppier and squelchier the better.

Well. I must admit that I do partake in that dreadful habit :(

I have no problems at all putting out a cigarette with my bare soles. Of course as long as it's the pad of the foot or the heel where the skin is more like leather.

Mud is just the bee's knees when it comes to barefooting for me. Especially if it's fresh, wet, soft, squishy, it lets you leave awesome footprints of your bare soles, and tends to stay with you for a little while longer - what's not to love? And animal manure (cow manure, in particular) is also something that I've found to have a great tolerance for - an affection, even! It's got a lot of qualities that mud offers to my feet, as well - and while I might mind the smell, my feet sure don't!
