Kids are naturally curious so it makes sense they would stare at people, even their parents, when they see them nude. When we first took our son to a nude beach he stared a LOT and asked a lot of questions, which I think is a simple, healthy curiosity.

It is simple curiosity; but it's also a reason why some nudists don't like kids hanging around them. It can be a little off-putting to be laying by the resort pool or on a beach; and seeing some "curious kid" looking right at your "privates." That's happened to my wife; who luckily was a mother herself so she understood it and didn't get upset about it. But some people really get "incensed." That's why it's important to watch your kid(s) and talk to them if you catch them being a little too "nosy."

Most nudist kids though get used to it very quickly; so although it might happen on their first trip, it also often ends there. The kids at my current resort are not "newbies"; so they are fully aware that staring is rude, and I've never seen them do it.

I wonder how things are going for the OP and his family regarding their experiences as nudists, and their son’s curiosity regarding his mom?
Sounded to me like natural curiosity as the family was new to nudism; for the son he’s probably never seen nude female bodies, especially his mom’s. I’m sure that the issue has gone away by now as the family has gotten used to seeing each other and other people naked. I’m sure that the son is likely now dealing with the random erections that tend to “pop up” for teenage boys all the time.

Curiosity comes from things being withheld. That is why I advocate for a sex positive nudist family upbringing. Not sheltering the from an erection here and there or making them feel they should run and hide if they get one. Just like their nudity the rest will also become natural and no reason to start a fuss and be uncomfortable. Once that barrier is down, it will be much easier to talk about the necessary things as they mature. I know when my dad tried to give me the talk, that was completely out of the blue and very uncomfortable because he was very conservative and sex or anything close to it was NEVER discussed.

Especially being her mom, she should not care if he stares all he wants. Let him get it out of his system. He has never seen a vagina or breasts before. He always wondered what it would look like, but a quick glance does not resolve those curiosities. He is blessed to have a mother that he can look to for that. My mom blacks out her windows on the second floor windows to her bedroom that lead to nowhere for fear someone might see her. So, no, I never saw a naked woman until me and my friend found some porn magazines when I was about 12.

That is why if you do not embrace them as a family and act as the erections are completely normal and acceptable then there is no other alternative for him but to not participated and he will then just seclude himself and likely resent the rest of the family that gets to freely enjoy their nudity without shame. We raised our kids as nudists, but that is one thing in hind sight that I could have dealt with better.
