I'm doing tie-dye today. My first attempt in high school turned into a muddy mess, that had no pattern. My second attempt was rushed and faded until the color barely showed up at all. Hopefully with a guide, it'll come out nicer this time. Will post the result when done.
I hope so too. Decided on a classic spiral, I've always liked those. Didn't have any condiment bottles, so my daughter used water bottles and poked holes in the lids. They worked pretty well. She decided to join me. (She's the artistic one.) Mine is graphite, tropical teal, and petal pink. Hers is sapphire, tropical teal, and graphite.
That brings back memories. My mom and aunt used to make natural dyes and then let all the kids make shirts and scarves.
I don’t know how they made all of them unfortunately but definitely berries ( my family owns a berry farm), nettles, coffee grounds, cherries and even avocado pits.
Yes. Unfortunately I didn’t realize how interesting my mom and her sisters were until I was an adult haha
Spirals are always nice! I'm glad they turned out really well. You both chose some really cool colours. Tropical teal is superb!
Always wash the fabric first before starting. The dyes will work better that way. And will last longer. I always pre dyed the entire shirt with a light color as a base. Then do small twists holding it in place with rubber bands. Often using different colors for each twist. Good luck and have fun doing it
