Hi y'all! Just like to drop in and let folks know about Acorn. We're a small (5 full members, 1 provisional member, 2 associates, 2 interns, 2 kids) family-friendly IC in rural Virginia. We're almost exclusively vegetarian and vegan (we do permit meat, but don't buy it for the community or serve it at meals), are certified organic, and run Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, which was listed in Mother Earth News as one of the top 25 seed companies in the US. We're egalitarian and share resources equally or according to need. We cover all our full members' basic needs, including health/dental care and children's education. Our mission is fighting oppression and protecting the genetic diversity of our seed stores from monster agri-corporations like Monsanto. We're a friendly (though somewhat quiet and shy), flexible group, and offer all kinds of options for visits. We welcome interns or work-exchange folks as well as those interested in long-term membership. Check us out! www.acorncommunity.org, or drop a line to acorncommunity@gmail.com
