So I just opened a story on my news reader. Here's a screenshot... Can you spot the similarities between the news story photo of explosives and the advertisement below it? I can see at least four, six now, which made me realize AI chose the ad, maybe even manipulated it to some degree (colors?) it could even alter the photo of the weapons to complement some ad. Why not? Of course the ad has nothing to do with the story, and that's the point. The AI is trying to be sly, by attempting to match a story image with an advertisement rather than understanding the story itself and what the image represents. AI Fail!
AI is indeed everywhere ... een in places people wouldn't think it was or that people ignore. For those who don't know or didn't realize. Every time you ask Siri or Alexa something you are talking to an AI. Your smart home is only smart because of AI. But let's get a little more obscure ... The Food you eat (Not Fast Food. Groceries. AI Controls production on a large number of farms these days, as well as weather stations that predict rainfall and provide information on growing seasons. Your Grocery store, be it Ralph, Win DIxie, Pgigly Wiggly, or Walmart and Costco, use AI to order, ship, inventory and sort for sale all the items in that store. You use AI at the gas pump to track your fuel purchases. Not so much if you use cash, but gas cards and credit cards? You bet. AI Algorithms keep track of your playlists on iTUnes, Amazon Music, Spotify, as well as Streaming services like Netflix, Paramount + MAX, Hulu, Disney, etc. The Hospitals and their Emergency Departments use AI to track all your health statistics, orm vital signs to your CT Scans, MRIs, Blood tests, EKGs and all manner of other medical procedures. Had Surgery recently? Almost all modern operating theaters use AI controlled surgical Robotics nowadays. AI is here, we used it, we've become reliant on it. We just need to monitor it and keep it under control. SOmeone once said "Just because you can do a thing, doesn't mean you should do a thing."
The first basic algorithms that monitored human behavior on the internet were from Netflix based on your viewing and likes or ratings. An early selling point was that they could make recommendations based on your unconscious interaction with their AI. Early music apps did the same. This was all prior to smart phones! In fact, Netflix only had your snail mail DVD rental history to go by at first. Now every streaming service incorporates this simple algorithm that merely interprets and correlates historical data. That is pretty much what all AI fundamentally does. Also Amazon.com did this so well, you see the success they achieved, first with books and recommendations based on your clicks. Now other internet markets like Walmart and Temu have copied Amazon's business model with success too. So AI has been around for decades. It's only grown more powerful because it has access to more data and faster computers.
You can atually trace it back further than that ... in 1947 AC Nielsen Company created a rating system that used algorithmic analysis to track viewership based on specif sample household sizes.
AI is crap and its sad so many ppl think its so good.... Wait until thier voice is used to say something bad AND THEY GET BLAMED!!
You do realize you are using AI right now, right? Whether it's you iPhone, iPad, iMac, Android device, or PC. Not to mention that the Internet itself Runs on AI, as does your Internet Service Provider ... So if AI is such crap then log off because we don't want you dirtynig yourself by using that filthy AI crap
Oooohhh! You mean like MURF-AI. He voice changer for iPhones? or the text to speech programs that allow you to to have the phone read any document back to you in a host of different voices, or a custom voice? Hmmmm yeah diabolical. I've said it before and I'll say it over and over again. Don't blame the tool, blame the user.Oppenheiomer neve rmeant for nuclear fission to be used as a weapon, but it was. AI Technology isn't evil in itself. Evil is an intent and only the users of the tech can form the intent to use it for that..
