I figure someone from the S.L. has prolly given these a shot at some point..

Basically, I'm curious about these. Firstly, I was hoping someone could elaborate on the directions. I looked around at a bunch of different sites and never quite found a concrete set of instructions. Secondly, I was curious as to the results people have had with this recipe. Sounds pretty interesting...

Anyway, here's the link about it. These are the secret behind 'On The Beach', evidently  http://www.thrasherswheat.org/rns/honeyslides.htm

I haven't tried them, but I've always wanted to. I first heard of them in Neil Young's biography "Shakey". In the book it says you put some weed in a pan and heat it up on the stove just till it begins to sizzle and smoke a little. Then you add honey. I've looked them up numerous times, but haven't really found any other variations in the recipe. So I guess try those directions?

I like the idea of taking a nice bud and making a piece of candy out of it by cooking it off in a sugar, water and honey solution. This would in effect soak the bud all the way through and make it a tasty treat to chew on. The crystilazation of the sugars would hold the THC much like cooking it in some kind of fat. If I ever had an excess of bud I might try this. However, if I did this as a whole bud product I would want to keep the batch small and use only whole buds.

There is another of the same type of thing in the culinary world that uses a mint chiffonade in sugar syrup used as a glaze for lamb for example. I would be willing to do this with a ground product.

Yeah, it's from an interview he did that was in 'Shakey'. Were you a fan of the book? I'm super tempted to buy it, but money's really tight at the moment and I don't want to throw ten bucks away on something that's not worth reading.

I just wasn't sure if anyone here had more specific directions. I don't want to get done making it and find out I did it wrong and then have to toss out a bunch of bud.

If you ever give it a shot Startreken, you'll have to let me know how it turns out. The band manager said these things kick as hard as heroin. People would take it, and then ten minutes later, they'd be passed out on a couch in the studio. Sounds like interesting stuff....

I could write out a full recipie if you want. You will have to check back with me as I would have to food think this process. I will put it back in this thread. As a chef this is pretty simple but I will not be doing any practical weed cooking for a bit as I am on a tolerance break right now and don't even plan on smoking for another few weeks. I have also taken it upon myself during this time to possibly look for another position and might need to take a drug test so they just happen to work out well together. Besides it requires product for testing and I don't just have weed sitting around that I don't plan on using. I really should grow my own then I could experiment all the time. If I could only win the lottery I would write the best weed cook book of all time.

When you say 'per slide', what exactly do you mean? I read a few different takes on the recipe, and in some of them, the final result was a thicker liquid that you drank, and then in the others, you just ate the buds that were coated in the honey....

Ok, if you want just a syrup like a glaze then here is a nice basic recipie that would work well. You can change the flavor if you wish but I think I will stick with this, you will end up eating it with a spoon. I'm going to go personal size here for sake of the amount of product. This will also be a very yummy topping for a steak or pork chop even lamb.

Ok, let's use some fresh mint for added flavor.

    Ingreadents:
1 Tablespoon Finely Chopped Fresh Mint
2 Tablespoons Ground "Herb" (about 3 or 4 grams)
    1 Teaspoon lemon Juice
    1 1/2 Tablespoons Bourbon
    3 Tablespoons Water
    2 Tablespoons Honey
    2 Tablespoons Sugar

Over Medium Heat using a small saucepan put in water, lemon juice, Honey and sugar and stir until all the sugar is combined into a clear liquid. Intoduce Herb and Mint into the pan and keep stiring until thick, add bourbon and continue to stir for another 5 minuites. This sauce will be a very yummy addition to any food item and if you want a thicker sauce then start by using a higher heat and reduce the syrup more before introducing the herbs, but be sure to bring the temprature back down to medium when you do so.

Like I said I would love to just put this on a nice Lamb chop and go to town but you can eat it by it's self. This is not quite a "honey slide" but this is how I would do it. If you don't like mint you can also use candied orange and crystalyzed ginger for another option. Marmalade would also be fun but then do not use the honey or mint. Same quanity. This would be awsome on buttered toast.

    Have fun.

i put about a gram in a cold frying pan[dry pan]...it should be ground up weed....turn the heat on to a little less than medium...watch carefully as the pan heats up[slide pan around burner similar to makin popcorn]..

at the first little wisp of smoke....add in enough butter and honey suitable for one piece of toast..

put one slice of bread in toaster now...

the butter and honey will cool the weed as it all melds together[2 minutes tops

    put on toast...

they hit quick if you have an empty stomach....

a half gram will get you high but 2 will send you to la la land

So you can just kick recipes like that on the spot? I must say, I'm mega impressed. XD You really should write a cookbook or something. Specially considering how much potential is in the medical-marijuana wave thing that's going on right now. If you hit up all those people and taught them all kinds of recipes that let them integrate their medicine into their everyday food, I think you'll have absolutely no problem selling a pretty considerable amount of copies.

That's pretty tight, Rollingalong. Doesn't seem like too tough of a recipe. A bunch of stuff I read said that you're supposed to cook it with the butter and then add the honey when it starts smoking, but your way makes a lot more sense. Thanks for sharing, I'll have to give it a shot some time!

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Neil Young. I would definitely recommend the book it is pretty long and goes into a lot of detail of Neil's life with a ton of interesting facts about albums that even some of the biggest fans wouldn't know. A lot of people say its the best Neil Young biography to come out so far. Anyways, Good luck with your honey slides!

Yeah. I'm a huge Neil Young fan now. I didn't like him at all initially. But one of my close friends loved him so I kept listening to him. Still didn't like him. And gave up on him. But then I downloaded 'Live At Massey Hall' a few weeks ago. One of (if not THE) best live albums I've ever heard. Completely changed my outlook on him.

I read a bunch of Amazon reviews about the book. Everybody said that the author inserts himself too much into the story. But I really like reading about artists, so I'll probably end up ordering the book.

Massey Hall is my favorite Neil Young album. I've loved him since I was old enough to like music. My dad is a huge Neil Young fan.

Yeah, the author does insert himself into the story a lot, but I've also heard the other Neil Young biographies are kinda crappy. Massey Hall is a great album- love it! Down by the River is my all time favorite Neil Young song. I don't know if you've seen this but it's awesome check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jxs0ybnsEQ"]YouTube- CSNY - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Down By The River (Big Sur, CA 1969)
I'm pretty psyched about getting the blu ray archives set - it's gonna be SWEET! Anyway I've rambled enough about my Neil Young obsession, lol.

Yeah. Massey Hall is my favorite album from him. I can't find the DVD for it online anywhere, and I'm hesitant to order the CD/DVD pack seeing as I already have the CD for it, and I have absolutely no money.

I think the big thing M.H. did for me though was open me up to Neil Young and help me understand what it is that people see in his music. I mean, I have never heard anyone portray more emotion in their work than he does in that barebones acoustic show.

Yeah, I love how he can play really intense and loud and then switch it up all of a sudden and be so quiet and gentle like in "Ohio" druing the Massey Hall performance. I also think he is a genius at painting a picture in your head with the imagery he uses in his lyrics. Fucking genius.

Absolutely. I think as far as Massey Hall goes, 'Old Man' > 'Cowgirl In The Sand' >= 'Ohio' > 'Helpless' > 'Down By The River'. Those are the five best, in my opinion. I'm a sucker for the straight out acoustic guitar stuff.
