my friend got these psilocybin mushrooms about like 2 weeks ago and gave me a bag of some she had left over.

but the thing is that they have a pretty strong odor. Like i dont even have to put my nose right up to the bag to smell them and its like kind of a minty earthy smell.

The reason im concerned is because i've done shrooms about 3 times before, and never noticed a smell...

also the caps are gold and the stems are whitish tannish greyish blackish.

do you think theve gone bad or something? Idk... im kinda scared to do em but i really want to

don't particularly remember gold either, very much remember blue

give 'em to someone you don't like very much

are they completely dry? as in brittle breaking to the touch like a potato chip?

if they were dried thoroughly and kept in the freezer in a airtight bag they should be fine..
however if they are moist at all, or kept at room temp for two weeks and some moisture was allowed to get in the bag (condensation?) they could well be mouldy.
in which case i would discard them.
they do tend to have a sort of fungal musty smell to them naturally, perhaps you are just smelling that.

thats probably good if the bag is not totally closed so they can vent if they are still drying a lil bit, but they should be fine, almost all of the fungi ive had has been gold caps with off white stems, blue bruises or whatever on the stem, maybe some black if the spores dropped.

I would meditate with them, and base my decision on what i felt.

there are gold cap shrooms with higher potency(usually than most cubes that i had)...if its only on a few of the dried shrooms not all(with gold caps) then those might have mold. Otherwise their of a certain strain of cubes and should defiantly be tried shortly or shared.

It's not good to have them in a baggie, especially not an open baggie. They'll last 2 weeks before they're no longer cracker dry and begin to rot.

A jar or a small airtight container is best for any sort of mushroom storage.

Most psychedelic mushrooms sold also have gold caps. They're not as potent as brown caps (pans) are. Even white/blue caps are more potent.
