Zakk Wylde and Kerry King have it. But their beards are bound with string or something to hold them in place. I'm not certain that beard hair will dread very easily on it's own because it's more coarse than the hair you get on your head.

Beard hair can dread but it really depends on the type of hair the person has.
I know my SO's beard is way too coarse to lock but I know a lot of guys that have a lighter wispier hair on their face.

I shall report on this.... one day.

I believe it depends on the same equation as head hair: some shit involving friction, diameter and length. So if it won't lock, grow it longer and wait.

Not real experienced in "beard hair" so to say, but worked with a couple of AA kids that had their hair dreaded by a woman I worked with from Jamaica. I watched her do it and there was a lot of grease used . . . that's all I really know. So I'm assuming it could be done . . . same TYPE of hair????

I actually knew someone who was in the process of dreading their beard. They had fairly coarse beard hair but it was fairly long, I think just as long as yours. I don't know how it went but his stayed and kept its shape for a couple weeks, he left town before I could even see the results :( I do believe though that they could dread but then again it all depends on the texture of the hair. My friend didn't have any string or bands on his beard. I am not a guy so I can't really give you an honest statement. All I know is if you let it grow long enough it seems highly possible. Good luck and can't wait to see the results.

I grew mine out for almost a year. Didnt touch it besides washing it here or there. I thought i could feel somethin going on but it was definitely still too early. Eventually had to cut it....for a job....regret that for sure.

I say just let that shit go. It will do it when its ready just like your head containing thise ridiculously awesome long locks.

I haven't shaved for 13 months and my gotee is definitely sectioning (my cheeks just don't grow hair, it's kind of weird). The gneneral rule of thumb for tangles is that they start to happen when you have about 6 inches of length and I have maybe 7. I'm not doing anything to it to encourage knotting, but I think that all the flapping in the wind when I ride my motorcycle is having some effect. I did accidentally give it a partial finger comb earlier today so I may have undone some. This is my experience so far, we'll see what happens with it.
