As I tell people, I still tend to believe in God. Or maybe a higher power, a higher order to things. If he exists, he's obviously very impersonal, and sometimes really doesn't care. But like an article I read about 35 years ago said, some scientists still believe in him. And they would argue, sometimes he doesn't care. But he created humans. And they care. But believe in the Bible literally? If you want to, go ahead. You know, some adults believe in the Easter Bunny. And it's a wonderful thing for them. I'm serious. It gives them so much joy and pleasure. I never did. But you know, as Francis Church told eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon in 1897, Santa Claus exists. If he exists in your heart, he will always exist, for you. And maybe that's all that matters. But, on the other hand. If you believe in Santa Claus, or the Easter Bunny. And he's telling you it's your job to make everyone else believe in him, whether they want to or not, that's different. And if Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny or you imaginary leprechaun friend is telling you to start fires. Or burn abortion clinics, or attack gay people, or just disown your gay son or daughter. Then we really have a problem.
