Live in Canada? Don't like telemarketing? The CRTC (*) has a do not call list. Their website address is https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/plt-cmp-eng.
It is illegal for a telemarketer to call you a month after you put your number on the CRTC do not call list. Calls which are not illegal are:

    • Calls from telemarketers with whom you have an existing business relationship
    • Telemarketing calls from a charity or a political party or candidate
    • Telemarketing calls from newspapers soliciting subscriptions
    • Calls from market research or polling firms that are conducting surveys
    • Business-to-business calls.
So, the next time you and your significant other are going at it and some dipshit telemarketer wastes your time, get off your butt and complain. Try and find out their company name, their location and phone number, and the caller's name. Record the time and date the call was received. The more we scream and kick about these turkeys, the less likely they are to keep calling.

Readers not living in Canada: Your state or federal government may have similar Do Not Call Lists. Check it out!
