Hi, Recently a good friend tried to introduce me to naturism. He explained the whole thing and sent me pictures of his family on vacation last year. They were at a naturist resort. The problem (for me) is that his two daughters are 13 and 15 and I must say that I paniced a little when I saw the photos - is this illegal? Can I be arrested for looking at these photos? My friend assures me that innocent naturism is infact legal at all ages but never the less this really frightened me. Can anyone advise me on this one? Thanks
No, Photos of nudist children is not illegal. If the photos are in a pornographic sense then they are. But because they are on a nudist vacation they arn't. The law is quite funny. But even online on nudist resort sites sometimes they have kids on there. I just can't find the lit I used to have on this. But I can assure you that this is not illegal.
Thanks for clearing that up. When you look around at the various naturist websites that require membership (eg credit card) how can you be sure that that site will not later put up illegal photos that you were not aware of? If the authorities find your details on that site and they deem that site illegal - how can you protect yourself? I find it very difficult to ensure that a site is actually entirely legal - for example purenudism.com - it comes back at the top of Google's ranking but how can anyone be sure it is legal? Nobody wants any illegal content however that is very difficult to ensure and I think that puts people off the whole idea of naturism! Is my opinion nieve? Thanks
Maybe I'm all wrong about this, but I never thought naturism or nudism or whatever you want to call it was about posting pictures on the Internet. I think being nude is perfectly normal and natural for any age. I've seen plenty of nudist families including children of all ages at various places where people of similar lifestyles can gather without fear of being harassed or arrested. But I'd never in a million years ever post a naked picture of myself on the Internet nor would I ever join some kind of so-called "naturist" website just so I could look at other naked people on my computer. Going to a nudist resort, club, or beach is one thing, and I see no problem with posting on a naturist forum about issues related to nudism or naturism, but getting involved in some website that you really know nothing about that posts nude pictures for all the world to see? I think we're talking here more about voyeurism than naturism. No, you're not naive at all. You're cautious and skeptical as to the ulterior motives of some of these sites - and justifiably so. You asked how you could protect yourself? Don't join these sites.
"Purenudism" is a soft-core porn site. No, it's not showing pictures that would be good illustrations for a gynecology textbook and I doubt if their stuff is illegal, but their idea of "nudism" is that the typical nudist is a young woman. If you actually go to a nude beach or a nudist resort, you'll find that the most common people there are middle-aged men. At least that's true if the resorts don't have a rule limiting unaccompanied men. Benj has it right. If nudism attracts you, get involved in it, but stay away from anywhere that just wants to show you pictures in exchange for cash.
i agree amontillado and benji- showing pictures for money would make me feel like nudity was being exploited as pornograpic. and the fact is that to some people nudity is sexual, to others it's just natural either way I wouldn't want photos of me in the internet I guess in the same way I am natural around people I feel comfortable with, not just anyone, I wouldn't want 'just anyone' seeing naked pics of me.
As you don't say which country you live in, no-one here can give you useful legal advice. (And even assuming you're in the US, I expect the law varies from one state to another.) I do know that here in the UK, parents have been prosecuted for or at least interviewed by the police for comissioning professional nude photographs of their children, or even getting photos of their children developed. But I think it's unlikely nowadays that the law would take an interest in genuine family photos.
I think pictures taken at nudist/natural communities should stay within those communities. I enjoy being naked and can honestly say I could be around children both pre-teen and teenage along with their parents and have no sexual attraction to the parents let alone the children. It is a fine line but you can easily detect the perverts that try to infiltrate the communities because of their physical sexual reactions and obsessive picture taking.
I've been thinking about this and I'd agree with Teknoshaman. I think it was wrong of the "good friend" to show those pictures of his young daughters to someone outside the family circle, in fact it was a violation of their privacy.
In my opnion, If web sites are selling pictures my guess it might be more of a perv site. If you wish to see and share nude photos join a club and keep the pictures among the club. If your firend truly trusts you I don't see what would be wrong with sharing the photos with you. But to give you, I would not have.
