Salt is very high in Semen, and also particularly rich in a sugar called fructose, which is an essential nutrient for the sperm. There is also a chemical produced in the glands which make a substance that causes the semen to clot (become sticky or jelly-like) after ejaculation. Even then it may be a good idea to not wear a lens for 24 hours afterwards, just to ensure all the semen is washed out by the eye's natural cleaning system. Make sure your Lens is also cleaned in an appropriate solution, or if disposable, change the Lens entirely.

If you are not a Contact Lens wearer, water should be fine, if you do not wish to purchase a proper eye wash. Make sure you properly rinse the eye, and in both cases
Dab - DON'T RUB the eye dry !

I know all of the above as I used to sell Contact Lenses and had to do extensive research to find out various causes of infections of the eye, and reasons for redness and irritation. This was a topic I covered. Yipeee ! Always thought it would come in handy one day !!!
