Hey all, I recently purchased Dr. Bronners peppermint to shampoo my locks with. Anyone else use this that knows a good dilution recipe? Or is dillution even necessary?
Best I can remember it needs to be diluted 1 part Dr. Bronner's to 3 parts water. I love it on my body, but can't use it on my hair, although plenty of people swear by it for their dreads.
Lol... You can either pour a little into an old shampoo bottle then fill the rest up with water. Some use the measurements 1 part bronners to 12 parts water. I personally just guess, and pour in a very little amount. Or you can just get your hair wet and add a little straight on, as it is then already diluted from the water in your hair However many people find dr bronners to leave some weird sticky residue feeling, as is the case with me, which is why I only use it very rarely as a conditioner.
If you want more information on bronners soap then type in "bronners" into the "search this forum" feature, if you have this function whilst you're still only a guest, I don't know if you do. (Main page of this forum) Here's the picture of it to show you where it is... [/IMG]
I don't use any soap for my hair anymore. I love the bronners for my face and body just not my hair. In fact soap just makes the problems on my scalp worse, baking soda included. I just rinse my hair with water. It works great. No smell or anything remains except your natural oils which keep it clean longer. When I did use i diluted it far less than 12 to 1 more like 20 to 1. I just covered the bottom of a 32Oz cup with soap and filled it up with water. Hell you can just take a few drops on your palm and rub it into the scalp and will be fine. It's soap not science...not really something to fret over.
Someone should mention in the stickies about the search feature- a lot of people post questions that could be answered with a simple search. Dr. Bronner's works okay for me- I use the tea tree version. Just dilute it alot!
To be honest the search function is not really that great as far as search engines goes, but yes for simple things it does work, such as shampoo, bronners, aloe vera etc...
We get so many Bronner's questions I sometimes think someone should just find all the threads, link them in one thread, and sticky it.
i diluted about 16:1 in a plastic cup and just dumped it on my head and washed. if you dilute it well, i have found there is no icky residue like some are describing.
I did about 2 ounces of it in a 16 ounce bottle..and made the mistake of washing my hair with it right after i washed my face with it..(Owwww)Otherwise it seemed to work fine..thanks for the replies ya'll =)
I struggle to find dr. bronners, well anywhere in Australia, and i didnt even know it had to be diluted, i just use any residue free, strictly ORGANIC soap on my dreads, and i dont get the icky residue feeling because i rinse it straight out after washing, i find its the best thing
