Gays During World War II.

    Like I said once online, I saw a documentary on PBS that showed a gay dance for US soldiers. They even posed with their boyfriends for keepsake pictures. I think outright sex was the only thing banned.

    I think the age of McCarthyism that began in the early 50s right after WWII had a lot to do with changes in legal attitudes. Up till then gays were left alone, bath houses were tolerated and communism was too. Then around the 1950s they started putting all of those people (including promiscuous women) in jails—or mental hospitals.
