While cooking my lunch I reached into the cabinet without looking and broke a shot glass and got glass in my foot. AND IT HURTS! WAAAAHHHHHHHHH :bigcry:

And i live alone in a house so there is no one here to kiss it and make it better. Boo.

Be careful- a friend of mine walked on glass as well, cut himself, got infected and they had to amputate his entire leg because of blood poisoning.

yes, the poor guy has only one leg now.
Just desinfect it properly and youll be fine. If it gets red, swollen, hurts and gaps open, go see a doctor immediately

I walked near a drill press a few weeks ago barefoot and picked up a few metal shards with my soles

To get glass, metal, briars or whatever out of your skin, and you can't get it all out with tweezers...bandage (or I have taped) fat-back (salty soft fat-back) over that area of your skin. I promise it will pull whatever foreign thing out of your skin - and onto the fat-back. I've seen it work MANY times. Of course you should disinfect it...but still, that fat-back works.

in the foot, i would be 10x careful to get all that out and keep it covered with antibiotic ointment (for reasons you can easily divine, like 'carp gets in your foot from dirt in shoes, fungus in socks, etc....ad infinitum). i had coke bottle glass in my hand from a slip/fall years ago...took 3 operations to get it out. nasty mess.

be sure to take extra good care of it. bad consequences can result if not.

thanks everyone! currently there is a seemingly invisible tiny piece under my pinky toe.. i can't see it but i know it is there because the area is a little red and it hurts to put all my weight on it.... i'm thinking for now soaking it with epsom salt and seeing if it pushes out at all..... i mean if things get worse i will obviously go to the doctor... major pain in the butt!

Just keep soaking it and the skin will loosen up enough to remove the shard of glass [IMG]

If you can’t remove it see a doctor immediately or it may get infected, fill with pus, and turn gangrene [IMG]

rare earth magnets are great for metal shards and metal slivers

i know op had glass but i thought id mention that anyways...also the best place to get good cheap magnets is to bust open an old computer hard drive
