How To Roll The Basic Joint (For beginners)

How to make a joint:

1. Make a base (out of three normal size papers or one king size at first) To do this get 2 papers lick the top corner of one and stick a paper alighned straight with the other skin along the sticky part. Get a third slide it from the bottom so the sticky on that one is facing the back of the two. make sure all the skins are flat against each other (important to think ahead with rolling).

2. Put in tobbaco, either just sprinkle it evenly or with a little more at one end (called the bob) Or lick along the part of the ciggerette that over laps (where the sticky part is on it) and that should allow you to just peel it off like a strip and then place it on the base and even according to how you want it. (adjust how much u want according to personal taste, it takes time to know how much tobacco you need to economically burn the amount of weed you require in your joint) Make sure the tobacco is reasonably even along the base.

3. Sprinkle the weed on, best to burn the same piece of weed only once or twice at most and also trying to get it as fine as possble into the joint so it burns without red blims falling out the end / carroting (wen one half of the joint burns faster then the other due to bigger peices / more weed on that part of the joint) Therefore it is important to also sprinkle it as evenly as possible, If you are using a bob then u place more where there is more tobacco, The bob makes the weed resin seep out of the weed befor it because of the heat, into the skin and tobbaco at the end, thus making a stronger and smoother hit. Also remeber it is best to use the BLUE part of the flame to burn ur weed. As it will not coat the outer layer with carbon (affecting taste)

4. Roll the joint, This part needs time and practise to get the "feel" of the joint. As you become more experienced with making joints you will notice how you roll will affect the type of hits / high you will obtain.

Wen you roll it is important to have the larger bits of weed at the bob (if u use a bob) so they are allowed to burn properly and resinate the rest of the joint. Now to roll the joint you have to hold the joint with your index fingers and thumb use your thumb and index fingure to feel and "rub" the joint so either side of the base is going up and down. again try to keep the tightness u gain from the "rubbing" is even, try not to have it too tight or too loose, so te weed burns long and without falling out until its completely made into ash but also gives you a good hit (takes practise). This is the fun part because u use ur sence of feel to improve your sence of getting high!

5. Roll it up and smoke, Wen your satisfied with the above bring the side of the joint that you pull down with ur thumb and push it on top of the mixture once this has been accomplished to the tightness that accompanies the tightness of ur mixture well, place your index fingers on the part that ur thumbs are keeping down, and slide them across so the skin "tucks" into the other side of the base once it is like this you can roll it how you roll the mixture to adjust tightness, Then you roll it up evenly lick the sticky part along (not too wet, there shuld be no wet marks after you do it, if there is give them a quick heat up with ur lighter (moving the lighter fast). The wetness will make ur joint "carrot" like wat ws mentioned earlier.)

Push down the bob with a ciggarette butt or a pencil twist end so it sticks out, pull that off and light or just light it from that.

6. ROACHING the joint, You can either place in a rolled piece of roach in befor or after you finish rolling the joint id say the easiest is actually after,

Wat you do is get a piece of thin card (the paper strip in the bottom of the paper packet or the actuall paper packet itself works fine). Tear of a peice of card making sure all sides ae equal (a roach piece should always look like a square or rectangle)

Where ever the roach has "frizzy" bits, where you have torn it give them a quick burn with ur lighter to make sure they are gone as they will soak up tar and resin from ur hit. This is another "feel" thing where you judge the size of the roach hole to how much u need to tear (which is also affected by the thickness of ur roach material).

Folder over a tiny piece at the end of the roach and roll it over and over. Let it expand then push it back down and roll it so its more sephericle depending on the size of the roach hole (which may be very small) all u may have to do is just roll a tiny it of card and push it in just to give u something to drag out of easier.

Althought for a first timer the roach hole will most likely be large so you have to roll a roach that is (wen expanded) slightly bigger then the roach hole, but then contract it so its slightly smaller. (takes time) u place the roach carefully into the hole if its large then it should be quite easy, Ur roach hole depending on how well u rolled the joint (thinking ahead) should be just like a smooth tunnel, Although somtimes things can go wrong and there can be a bit of the paper obstructing the hole. The means that you have to try to push that bit of paper back mabey with a paper clip or pin and slide in the tightened roach into the gap that u create the roach will expand and will fit Nice "n" Tight™ into the hole and push back the irritating bit of paper.

Push the roach into the joint as far as it goes until there is a slight pressure pushing agaisnt the mix, Burn off the excess paper, And ur good to go! Phew hope that didnt exauste u as much as it did me!

Note: Try to do all the techniques in as little time as you can as the more you "mess" around with the joint the more likely things will start going wrong.

And could other people post there comments and suggestions for all the newbie smokers that are craving for knowledge.

 

that wasn't really that helpful. Not everyone wants tobbacco in their joints, and not everyone wants to sit around licking and sticking multiple papers together, one paper is enough for one joint. Just break your bud up, put it evenly in a 'V' shaped paper, then roll it around untill it has good shape. You learn better by practice, so realy there isn't much helpful info you can read, just go and roll and roll and roll.

 

actually the easiest way to do it is...




fold the paper in half....put some weed in it.....fold it over and try to compact the weed into as smalla circular line as possible....lick the sticky part.....fold it in a dollar bill, and place it between ur 2 hands and push up letting the 1 half of the bill slide up across the other side...place dollar bill and j in palm of left hand and push up allowing the bill to slid with you right hand.......thats how i used to do it....

 

Ok ermm i didnt say this was the easiest way now did i,

But by wat i can make out ur way of rolling is taken quite literally actually scrunching up some paper, wow thats help-full nice to know my help is appreciated thx,

Also wat ive posted above doesnt take long. Takes me 2 minutes to do all that somtimes less and thats outdoors. And also if ur gonna roll a joint without tobacco or somthing to help the weed burn then theres no point smoking it better off using a pipe.

Ive known people who have never had help rolling and they been rolling for like 5 years and they still cant roll a good joint. So im trying to give some guidance... Your way of rolling mate probley takes longer then my way and the outcome is probley almost un-smokeable ive tried just rolling like that and i ended up with a load of shit.

 

Easiest and best:


fold the paper 2/3 down. put weed in the pocket.

roll it back and forth to compact it.

FOLD the pocket over.

roll it up.

lick the OUTSIDE of the paper.

viola!

10 seconds.

So no one is gonna be man enough to admit that they been rolling crap joints for most of there stoning period and take some advise, If u can roll a joint like that in 10 seconds and get HIGH of it ill gladly eat my hat. Also you probley need to use a lot more weed to get the same effect cus u wont be properly burning the weed ahh fuck it no one will listen...

Yes rolling with straight grass is more difficult than tobacco or mixed. More difficult but not really all that hard if you know how to roll a cigarette.

Learn To Roll (cigarette smokers only)

1. Finish your current pack of smokes.
2. Go buy a bag of Drum rolling tobacco.
3. Smoke nothing but Drum until it is gone. Yes, most of your cigarettes will suck, be unsmokable, or barely hold together. Suffer. Oh yeah, buy extra papers.
4. Treat yourself to a pack of filter smokes. By now you can roll and smoke a cigarette, no problem.
5. Buy a pouch of course cut rolling tobacco. Top is very common but crappy. Zig-Zag or blends cut specifically for rolling machine are available.
6. Smoke nothing but rollies until the pouch is gone. Now you are pretty good at rolling cigarettes, even with coarse, loose, dry tobacco.
7. GET YOUR GANJ
8. Cut up your MJ very fine, chop it up with a knife, trim it to pieces with a pair of scissors, use a coffee grinder, or go to a head shop and buy a $5 grinder you cheap ass.
9. Impress all your friends. You already know how to roll and will only get better.

Just to ensure this, dont use packet tobacco it tastes like shit and covers up the smell and taste of the weed, and is much more dense and tarry and blar.

Wow man your fucking amazing you can do all that in 10 SECONDS! I'd be impressed.

Not saying everyone can, but I smoked rollies for a years, and yeah, I'm pretty damn good at it. I can roll cigarettes in the wind and almost one handed. I've seen one handed but am not that good yet. I would never roll MJ in the wind obviously.


Rolling is very easy to learn but most people quit after their first few failures and then complain that they can't roll. I taught several of my friends to roll and a few of them have trouble tying their shoes.

 

Oh, and 10 seconds assumes trhat the weed is already cleaned and broken, right? That is the most time consuming part, lol.

 

Wtf how do you roll one handed lol Dedicated Nam veteran or somthing? Do you mean the entire process or do you actually take ur hand away to pinch some bakky and the lighter and watnot? do you spend hours joyfully laughing at your own attempts to spit the roach into the roach hole?

shit....when i first started smoking i used to have to use 2 papers...i'd pretty much wrap the weed up in one paper and roll it over with another...but i got alot better over time...hell now i can break up weed, pick it clean, and roll a joint w/1 hand while driving......



1. w/r hand i, rub the weed w/2 fingers and break it up on a cd case or something....and ppick out seeds/stems if there are any...

2. get a paper and fold it in half and lay it on my leg and put the weeed in there.

3. fold it over 1 time and flip it over after that, and make sure its Ok then i rub it with a flat hand on my thigh.....

4. then pick it up and lick the sticky and rub it over my thigh again...

werx just fine for the road warrior's out there....hehe

 

2 things really:


1) I know a guy who has spent more than a few hours in more than a few prisons and I've seen him skin up a baccy cig (single skin) with one hand in less than 5 or so secs! Seriously, its fucking genius to see, paper between the base of his thumb and forefinger, he picks the baccy up with his fore and middle finger, flicks it into the paper, licks, and rolls the paper round. He says its cos in prison he often had to tax a fag inside and u had to be quick about it and over all the years of sitting there all day smoking and being bored, it eventually became second nature to him and he doesnt even need to look anymore.
Never seen one of his J's but if you needed an express one after a bad day, hes your man!

2) One of the coolest weed related things i've ever seen is when I was in A'dam I visited a place c/shop called 'rasta baby'. Appropiately enough there was a cool as fuck, pretty old rasta guy in there, in walks his mate who passes him about an 1/8th of grass, mutters something, and wanders off.
The rasta then gets a king size rizla in his right hand, he also then tips all the weed into his left hand, he then very quickly scrunches the weed for about 2 seconds, literally throws all of it into the paper, rolls it instantly with his right hand only in then in the same movement brings the spliff to his lips and lights it instantly, inhaling thick plumes of white smoke (those rastas have lungs like suction pumps!). The whole process took about 10-15 secs and to see it was awesome, he'd created a proper rasta looking spliff, a big fat cone that looked quite rough and ready but as i watched him smoke it , it smoked perfectly all the way.

So it can be done!! Personally, i'm pretty slow but the end product is always worth the wait!!!!

 

yea, i like to roll cones myself, but it only seems like i can smoke them, everybody else fucks up the tip...it pisses me off, but i remember who to and not to smoke with....i cant stand it when somebody fucks up my tips man.....

 

People wouldn't mess up your tips if you had a filter in 'em. Not a real filter, rather just a roll of paper. Several advantages:

1. people won't fishlip your J's
2. nothing can fall into your mouth
3. no technique required to smoke the roach
4. doesn't matter if the end gets a little soggy
5. stays nice round and pretty, so your J's look sharp

Easy, tear a piece of matchbook cover or a piece of your pack of smokes and rol it into a tube. Use a piece maybe 1/2 inch by 1 inch. Then you got a little stub of rolled up paperboard. Roll that into the end of your J.

 

The person that showed me how to roll one handed was an ex-con who learned in jail.
