We also have to work hard to make sure Lawrence v. Texas isn't overturned.

Supposedly sodomy statutes were rarely enforced. (One article I read said fornication statutes are rarely or never enforced, criminal cohabitation statutes are are rarely or never enforced, adultery statutes are are rarely or never enforced, and sodomy statutes were "sporatically" enforced, whatever that means.) But sodomy statutes were used in the abstract. To deny gay couples adoptions, to deny them anti-discrimination. George W. Bush's administration said it couldn't teach safe sex practices, because then he would be aiding and abetting a felony, sodomy in many states. So sodomy statutes even if not enforced are used against gays in other ways.

Why the fuck is this sexual puritanism still lingering in this country after hundreds of years? Why the fuck can't we get rid of this shit?
