But you do have to identify yourself in a reasonable manner (show ID, etc.). And they only have to warn you of your right to remain silent before a custodial interrogation. (If you are in a squad car on the way to the holding cell, resist the urge to make small talk in other words.) And never resist arrest. If it was an illegal arrest, you can bring that up later. In fact it's probably the first thing you should tell your lawyer. But you can't resist even an invalid arrest. (Because then everyone would do that.)
