Medical workers and staff must never do any harm and they must always remain neutral in every moral and political debate. As I've said, that is why vans that display the red cross can never be fired on in wartime. They must never harm their patient, and they must be only there to help him and improve his quality of life. As I've said, doctors around the world recognize this fact. A female doctor in very conservative Iran once said her government and society may condemn HIV patients for being gay. But she would never judge them and is only there to help.

This goes back to the original Hippocratic oath written by Pythagoras in the fifth century BC, first to do no harm. And it is repeated in things like the modern Hippocratic oath written by Dr. Louis Lasagna of Tufts University in 1964. That the physician is not just bound by physical laws, but above all by ethical laws which he must always obey in his relation with his patient. All doctors, nurses, counselors and substance abuse counselors must uphold these principles. Or, they have no business being in that profession.
