new tongue piercing.. please answer

hey.. i got my tongue pierced today and the piercer was telling me that i should try not 2 smoke drink etc 4 a couple of weeks.. my mate sed thats probly cos of the chemicals and shit.. does anyone no if i can smoke weed and or pop pills 4 that period or whether i should stay away..(i chew my pills)
please let me no

 

no smoking is no smoking. the last place you want a nasty infection is on your tongue. I dont know much about the pills, but you should try just swallowing them whole to be safe...or cut them up if you have to.

 

My boyfriend did his whole drug mess when his tongue was pierced. He didn't have any problems with it. Just make sure you keep your tongue real clean....clean it a couple more times a day than normal.

 

yeah, moon_flower is right. i smoked a cigarette literally 2 hours after i got my tongue peirced and im pretty sure i drank the following weekend. as long as you keep your tongue super clean, you wont have many problems. and plus, the tongue peircing is the peircing that heals the fastest and easiest, cuz its in your mouth, and your saliva acts as a natural healing tool.

 

When my tongue was healing I stopped smoking cigarettes and put off smoking weed until I could no longer stand it. The pills thing shouldn't be such a problem but I would definitely keep that to a minimum as the chemicals could adversely affect the healing of the piercing. So long as you rinse your mouth out after you smoke you will be fine. Just smoke in moderation.

 

you can smoke when your tongue peirced just clean it afterwards. The drinking thing is true though.You cant drink cause it has yeast in it. Give it about two weeks.

 

well...they told you that because the tobacco or weed smoke will agrevate the 'wound' and no alcohol like beer or stuff like that because the yeast can get in the 'wound' and cause a really bad infection in your mouth.

seriously, it depends on how sensitive your body is to infection and wounds. im apprenticing to be a piercer, and in my expierience, as long as you make sure you keep it clean, the smoke or alcohol shouldnt bother it. though i would still stay away from beer or antyhing with a high yeast content. i smoked all through my healing process...and drank. and mine is fine. just make sure you keep it clean, i cant say that enough!!!!

and, if you find that the listerine or salt water you are using to clean out your mouth with is bothering the wound more, try deluting the solution with half water and half solution...

aaaand, im rambling. can you telli do this all the time?

 

If you want your tongue to heal faster with less chance of complications avoid smoking. As for the pills avoid them too, but not because of your tongue.

 

yeaaa i smoke and drank and it didnt affect me at all while mine was healing....

 

I smoked during all 3 of my tongue piercings, the only thing you have to do is rinse out/ drink lots of water swish it on top of yer tongue as for pills don't chew them parachute them, I hope you know what that is.

 

Ooookay,smoking isn't a problem, I had a joint like an hour after I got it done, just make sure you rinse it with "diluted" listerine 3/4 times a day. The reason for no alchol for a week or 2 is because alchol thins the blood making it harder for the wound to heal, as long as you don't go overboard, it'l be fine.

As for the pills, don't see a problem there, just keep it clean !!!!

 

They guy who did my tongue said to avoid anything that causes suction.. i'm pretty sure that is the reason for saying no smoking... i don't know if it will really affect it thought because i just got mine done yesterday... you could always just clam bake
