I love it. Anyone else do it this way? I even do it outdoors in warmer months. The erotic feeling along with meditating is awesome.
I am naked most of my existance and forget about it just like most things. I suggest that meditation naked is different from naked meditation.
this is slightly off topic, but im interested in nude yoga. ild like to start a class once i learn more and take more classes. has anyone done nude yoga? I just want to hear what others think of this idea.
I sometimes meditate and do yoga in the nude. Honestly I do it so I can -undo- the "erotic" feeling. I think it's silly that something as natural as nudity is considered "erotic."
Is here anyone from UK who is interested in nude yoga and nude meditation, i am looking for some guidance as i am new in this, i am in meditation since last 5 yrs but now i've discovered a new side of me.
It is, or perhaps was more, common for Sadhus to live naked, especially the Nagas for whom it's required. I do know a lineage of Naths who sit naked, though are clothed or unclothed, as they wish, at other times.
On the other hand, a lot of spiritual teachers I know advice against nudism because it draws a lot of negative energy from outside. Although you may be past the sexuality of it, to another person it is often sexual, or distasteful or blasphemous and their negative energies will eat into your positive energies. Also it is said to draw the attention of unfavorable spirit beings.
I enjoy doing yoga and meditating in the nude. It helps my mind to get over thinking of my being self conscious and helps me to focus on what really important... peeling off my emotional layers.
I'm trying to get a nude yoga group together in central Texas. I just started up a meetup group for it called, creatively enough, Nude Yoga in Central Texas. I hope some of you are close enough that you can join.
That's how I spent last night! so wonderful! Helps me feel more connected and less distracted... ...and nude sun salutations=pure bliss!
My first Yoga class that I attended was right after a short run. I wore my split running shorts that day since I did not have enough time to change. After getting into some of the poses, I begain to feel alittle self conscious of my split running shorts gapping open. Granted the shorts had a liner in them, but a very thin one. The next day, I had followers, both sexes started wearing the split running shorts. I felt much better.
Yeah, well, what does "peeling off your emotional layers", got anything to do with taking your clothes off? Duh. Are you any closer to attaining enlightenment meditating in the nude as opposed to when one has clothes on?? Sorry, but I think, the whole proposition is lame and stupid.
lol stev... I'm inclined to agree. People spend too much time on the superficial and the real work often gets forgotten.
I just finished my first nude yoga class, and I can tell you that it's just the opposite of what you expect. The work becomes the sole focus. When doing yoga clothed, there are a hundred little adjustments that must constantly be made. When going into a shoulder-stand, you've got to stop and tuck in your shirt. When going from one stretch into another, you've got to pull up the slack in your sweat pants so the other leg isn't constricted by the material. There are actually two activities going on in a clothed yoga class: yoga, and keeping propriety balanced with comfort and effectiveness. In a nude yoga class, it's all just yoga. The movements flow smoothly from one pose into another.
The original state is the Nude state. So say the ancient Vedic texts. So its beautiful if you can meditate and do Yoga in the Nude. Very exhilirating and uplifting. But for those who cannot drop their clothes, its a big obstacle. Nudity helps a lot.
I wish more people were comfortable with their nudity. It's hard to explain to others how I can be around both men and women naked before, during, and after a sweat lodge without feeling any type of sensual or sexual feeling. I've always been a nudist around my house but never did it in front of others until last year at 4 Corners Interfaith Sanctuary (www.4qf.org).
You mayt be fine with it, but you don't know what feelings you're stirring up in others when you do it. I'm no prude, I think the idea is good in an ideal world. But in the practical world it can cause problems. As a spiritual teacher, I've had so many students tell me how the smallest thing can trigger strong sexual feelings. If you must be nude, why not strip off the body itself?
