I've been looking for shrooms a lot lately, and then out of surprise while I was looking for shrooms found in my area (Maine), on my lawn, which the soil is mainly composed of old dead trees and other assorted mulch (supposedly a good area to find blue foots), I found thousands of these tiny mushrooms....hopefully...Psilocybe caerulipes. Also they were found highly concentrated in parts of my lawn that have spaghnum grass.

So can someone help me identify these? I'm a a huge amatuer at this and so I need help :).

Anyway, they're sticky, brown gills, flat/convex caps, and they even bruise deep purplish.

Well the thing that keeps making me confused, is when i pinch them or bruise them, they turn very dark/deep purple, is that mean it's the bluing, just this species has a deeper shade?

They have brown close gills, are sticky, small tops that have almost a nipple on them (convex or flat with bell-shaped middle), dark in the middle fading to brownish yellow on the outside, and then whitish/brown stalks. But after handling them, they almost immediately become that blue. I took a spore print...but I only left it on for like 10 minutes...how long should it be? (It came out to a light dark almost purple coloring). They grow in small clusters around my field near my house and along the lawn near the woods, about 1-3 inches tall on woodchips, mulch, spaghnum grass, old debris, etc...

    Does that help any?

I know without a positive ID it's bad to eat them, I just need some help into making it closer to a positive ID. So any help is thanful.

They seem to be either P. caerulipes or P.cinculus to my best knowledge?

Those don't grow in my area, and also the ones I have don't see nearly as bulbous or slimy.

Mushrooms turning deep purple/black....is that a form of bruising blue? Like meaning a lot more psilocybin, or does it mean it's not an active shroom?

many mushrooms blue.. boletus turn blue and have no psychedelic qualities at all..
your just going to have to keep looking at pictures and the shroom in hand and make a judgment yourself.. Sooner or later one has to do this alone.. Should you eat them... Make sure you do not eat all them.. Because Even if you get sick you will not die as long as your man enough and responsible enough to go to a hospital when symptoms of illness occur ... and take the mushrooms with you.

Please be aware that If you are hallucinating you are not Poisoned by the mushroom.. Mushrooms that make you see things can not make you ill to DEATH. Its all in your head..

mushrooms that dont make you see things and ILL to the stomach and fainting feeling, dizziness, vomiting need to be looked at by professionals .. you say "I ate this, Ive been sick for a couple day" you will not die, but by not keeping some mushrooms for medical staff to ID. you might have a harder time recovering..
hospital staff will not call the police cause you ate a mushrooms <> Billions of people eat legal mushrooms and get sick every year..
Going to the hospital Hallucinating believing that you poisoned yourself, when you ae actually not. will get you the 24hr noob Barney Rubble blanket observation room.. :eggnog:

    haha well thank you.

But yes I know that bluing doesnt mean it definitely is psilocybe, but the problem i have is the "bluing" I see, is actually a "deep purpling"...is that normal?

If the mushroom is doing it then yes it is normal for whatever species of mushroom it is. You won't just pick a species of mushroom that doesn't bruise blue and then observe it bruising blue.

It's definitely not Panaeolus Cinctulus, the caps don't have rings, the gills are too light. I've picked Pan Cins enough to know, despite all blurryness, that you don't have Pan Cins.

Edit: Sorry man the above sounds kind of mean spirited when I read it in my head. Some species bruise a blue so deep it appears purple. Having only been able to research Caerulipes and having never picked them myself I haven't had the chance to observe how Caerulipes bruises so I can only tell you what I know. Be careful man, and If you do decide to eat them I wish you good luck and a happy trip, and If not, I wish you a quick recovery and ambitious return to the wonderful world of mushrooms
