Pronouncing "Sigur Ros"

Ive been avidley listening to Sigur Ros for these past few months....but have a question..

How do you pronounce Sigur Ros?

I think Im pronouncing it wrong....."ciger roes"?? Is that right?

 

i dont really have any idea but your right they are good, even if they sing in icelandic or something

 

i heard it pronounced on the radio as "seeger rawz"

 

I'm on the ciger rawz, but not sure

 

well why not ask someone who speaks icelandic?

hmm now if only there was someone on the forums that speaks icelandic...

haha well, i don't know really how to explain it.. 'rós' is kinda just pronounced the same as rose..so that's not very tricky. but 'sigur' on the other hand, it's kinda hard to spell how it's pronounced, icelandic is such a stupid language

and for those of you that don't know, swedish is just drunk danish...

and danish is prenounced kinda like german

Icelandic is a beautiful language...

"Rós" is pronounced pretty much like "roess". If you know X-Sampa, it's /rous/. Sigur, I believe, is "see-goor" Or /sig.r=/.

 

It means "victory rose". It is pronounced 'see oor roce', or ['siɰ�r roʊs] in the IPA.
