Alright I love redbox. They always have something I want to see. BUT, I loved it even more when it was only 1.00 to rent a movie. It's now $1.29 and I imagine it will go up again. Inflation sucks.
I think it's even more then that! My whole 20$ prepaid card was used up, down to 0.00 From renting 3 movies and returning them the next day, what a rip off!
What the heck..that sounds totally wrong. I would call up the redbox customer service. Even if you returned them all late the next day, your $total should be something like under $8. Usually if there is something wrong and you complain about it then they will give you codes for free rentals! What'd you rent? Was anything good? I just rented 'Seeking a friend for the end of the earth.' I plan on renting moonrise kingdom & the Lorax soon. Oh! Safety not Guaranteed is really good. I recommend it. Actually, you know what I'm thinking may have ripped you off, your pre-paid credit card. I sometimes use one too and I guess they have a service charge of $10 that they deduct each month!
Ah yes one was a blueray. But the other two weren't ! Good idea about calling customer service though, even though it was a couple weeks ago. Meanwhile, those three movies were so awesome! It's a shame I can't remember what they were lol
$1.29 is still dirt cheap. Compare that to the $10 it would cost to see in a theater of the $8 blockbuster would charge you. Netflix is so good they managed to put Blockbuster out of business even.
Yeah, I've been doing pretty well with netflix. I've watched some pretty good movies this past month. It seems they've been adding more and more. There's a lot of classic movies on there, a pretty great selection. I love all of the underated movies. I watched something called 'sassy pants' last night.
I had to stop renting movies, because I have a habit of not returning them. I seriously have more than a dozen redbox movies sitting on my shelf, and I haven't rented one in 2 years. I just gave 2 of them away earlier today. I got a blue ray player with Internet a few weeks ago. Netflix and Vudu is fine for me.....nothing to return.
I thought I saw on the internet that you can get redbox movies for free somehow. I dunno if it was fake or not, I never tried it, but it could be worth a shot. You should just use Netflix, it's better than redbox for sure.
You can sometimes run into someone with a bag full of bootleg dvds, usually have quite a selection. You can get maybe 3 for $10 bucks depending on who it is. But then again I can go download a movie with utorrent and burn it to a disc myself. Sometimes the quality is good, sometimes not so good especially if it's one that hasn't been released yet. Some people man I don't understand, how someone can have the time to download all those movies and burn them, label them, put em in cases and then go out in the street selling pirated copies of movies. Last time I checked, that was pretty illegal. And then you got those that'll buy a carton of newports and sell em all individually for 50 cents apeice to make a little profit. Is that really worth it, I highly doubt it. And selling cigarettes on the street is actually illegal too.
^ around here discount grocers and parks/stores in bad neighborhoods are the best places to find bootleggers, but I'd never buy from one =P
I have a cousin who was downloading and burning bootleg music and movies before high speed Internet. He knew his shit.....When one song took everyone else 45 min to download, it took him 30.
Netflix disappointed me because there's several really good movies I wanted to rent and Netflix doesn't have them. I love old movie rental stores, not really blockbuster but the smaller stores that have all went out of business by now. You could find the most obscure movies sometimes. I got a bunch of awesome vhs movies a few years ago when a rental place went out of business here.
I live in an area where weird small businesses are thriving. The local movie store, called "Wild and Woolly," has anything you could think of. The place is packed every time I drive by. I live down the street from "Hippy Hardware". I freaking LOVE this neighborhood
We have one very successful one. His second store is conjoined with a CafeMocha. But it's a college town and it caters mostly to the intellectual and arthouse crowds.
