Ok so I got another tattoo on thursday. It's now monday and the skin around it is still really fucking sore. I can't really remember what it was like for my last tattoo (which was my first) cos it was two years ago and also that was a completely different place. This one is around my right breast, stretching up and out to my rib cage under my arm and my last one was on the small of my back so rather different canvases, seeing as this one has a lot more movement going on around it. Anyway, the tattoo is scabbing up nicely, everything SEEMS to be ok but it is still really fucking amazingly painful, of the sort of pain that it hurts when anything touches it... I don't remember it being this bad but I could just be being a softy... Anyone else have knowledge/experience of chest/rib/breast tattoos and can tell me if what I'm feeling is normal? Also, the tattoo itself looks awesome - I'll post photos of it when it stops scabbing and looks nicer.
Totally normal, I have one on my ribbs...it was tender for the entire healing process which was about 2 weeks, maybe a bit less. It didn't hurt like HELL though, it was just tender...so maybe you're not taking enough good care of it. Make sure to wash it with non-purfumed soap (i use ivory..), cream only a THIN layer, don't have it all gummy...I put cream for 2 weeks, even if i was told only to put it the first few days. Try to keep it out in the open as much as possible. peace
Sweet, thanks. It only really hurt like a total bitch the night after I'd been out dancing and jumping around. Jumping = not cool for new tattoo... It's getting better now. Just checking to see if I was normal.
usually any tattoo on me kind of stings for a few days because the skin is tighter than usual. i would say its completely normal. just don't get it wet and be careful when you lay down lol
The skin on your rib cage is very mobile which will increase healing time. Also, the ribs are notoriously painful, and you probably have some bruising as well. I wouldn't be terrily concerned unless something other than the sensitivityis abbnormal. If in doubt, stop by your shop and ask. As far as aftercare goes, opinions vary greatly and I say the best advice is to follow your artists orders. Peace
Dancing and jumping might not be cool, and might hurt you... I all get that part. But it's more than that. It's no good for the healing process of your tattoo. I remember how much discipline I used to have during the healing process of my neck tattoo, wich is a big piece.
