The way I smoke Salvia is usually in a bong or a makeshift bong. You actually don't need very much Salvia if you are using an extract (10x is good, but be careful). Since Salvinorin A (the active component in Salvia Divniorum) requires relatively high temperatures to vaporize (higher than THC), you need to burn it well. I recommend you start small, as with any psychedelic, also because of the fact that Salvia can be very potent, and it's also beneficial to not do too much at once. The longer the Salvia is in the bowl burning without a ligher on it, means the Salvia is just burning up Salvinorin A, not vaporizing it. Burn a small bowl of it very well (using cannabis as a base is very effective in my experience), while inhaling as much as you can, and hold it for 15-30 seconds. This can be difficult. If you start feeling some kind of pressure on your body, or odd gravity feelings, then you are feeling some effects. That's one way to tell. The pressure/gravity can actually be kind of pleasant and interesting, and it's unique to Salvia. On higher doses you will have strong visuals. It took me three tries to be able to feel the effects of Salvia. I would not recommend combining Salvia with drugs other than cannabis until you are quite experienced with it, as the effects can be greatly magnified, and overly powerful if you aren't ready for it. Even then, I think cannabis is really the only drug that should be safely mixed with Salvia. That's just a personal opinion, because of how strong Salvia has the potential to be sometimes. Salvia can be totally mind-blowing and you must be careful with dosage. It can be overwhelming if you do too much at once, so be careful. Always start low. Know yourself, know your body, and be safe. Never drive on Salvia. Be in a safe and comfortable environment, and use a sitter. The better your mindset and the nicer the environment, the better trip you'll have. Have fun and be safe! -Muugokszhiion Edit: Regular lighters are effective on Salvia. You don't need a torch. I find that having the flame on the Salvia most of the time you inhale produces better results. Sorry for any confusion.
I agree with what you are saying about marijuana and it's effect on a salvia trip. I find that smoking a few bowls really acts as a catalyst with salvia.
have to disagree about the torch you can use a torch but you do your lungs a disservice - for raw leaf a torch helps to get it all started and burned for a good inhallation and holding, remember the effect needs a lot of salvinorin all at once to threashold. That is why you can eat a ton of it (really 5-10 grams) to get the same effect as smoking 1/3rd of a gram, but when you eat it it keeps coming on and the effect lasts longer. back to 10X you do not need to use a torch at all since a regular lighter can easily light the 1/30th of a gram for your inhallation. the main thing is to hold it in - and remember to do nice things to your body, high temps on the lungs is not among nice things, I would really avoid it unless you are really hard up about vapourizing, you seriously do not need to vapourize to smoke. all you need to do is burn the substrate and it will release the salvinorin. pure salvinorin needs a torch (do not try it -the dose is hard to manage - so small) but if you put it on leaf or cigarette paper 800mics gets into the lungs by merely incinerating the cellulose base. It does not need to be heated into a gas. remember you can breathe droplets of water - mist, this is what you get if you do it right, and you can save your lungs too.
True. What I was meaning to say is that you need to burn it very well. I have always used a regular lighter. You just need to apply the flame to the Salvia for pretty much the whole time you inhale. Some people recommend using a torch, but I've never tried it, and have definitely gotten effects without using one. I think it's just a matter of getting the Salvia hot enough to release the Salvinorin A.
