BULLSHIT There ARE good and honest and caring prople, and some of them are in national and state and local goverment. However: Many representatives, who control the flow of money to services and materials that people need to sustain existence, are wholly uncaring. Politicians have forever behaved variously. National trends of behavior change over time according to what the generality believes and practices. Thus, hideous racism, sexism, gender bias, religious bias, economic bias, and so on. When the Chatterocracy declares some vile act "is not who we are," that ought to be "that is not who we want to be." Human nature is self-protective; people have to learn other-orientedness, according to place and time. Like the animals we are, we model our behavior on what we observe and how we are socialized. Individuals do break from confining patterns in an attempt to show others to do likewise. Change begins when some ONE goes contrary to the pattern (so-called "normal behavior"). The world over and forever, the majority "rules." The results constitute human history. And THAT history IS who we, in truth, are.
