I don't know why universal health care and aid to the poor is seen as so controversial in my country. You're not a true conservative they say, if you support either. But that's not true in other countries. All the modern democracies have universal health care, for example, now. Even Saudi Arabia has it, since 2019. Even very conservative countries like Austria, where ex-Nazi Kurt Waldheim served a president from 1986 to 1992 has it. The only reason why it's a big deal here is because it so policized. We had public schools since George Washington's time. So that's not controversial. But basic health care is for some reason. And no, Obamacare is not universal health care. It's a watered-down version of what the Republicans were proposing the year before. And they even tried to expand Medicare in other states. But the Republican governors blocked it because thought it was evil and their residents shouldn't have expanded health care. Good then. You deserve what you got, because you voted for it.
