I'm going to Amsterdam in a couple of weeks and intend to smoke some hash in a coffeeshop there. I used to be a huge pothead some years ago but it started to give me panic attacks so I stopped using it. Now I only smoke maybe once in a couple months or so. So I want to make sure that I don't order really strong hash when I'm in Amsterdam because I haven't smoked hash in ages, and I'd like to smoke as weak a variety as possible so I can enjoy it without freaking out. Can anyone give me pointers as to which strains of hash are weaker?
I do not know the qualities of the hash listed ,but this is a list of hash prices in Amsterdam in 2006, I imagine the cheaper types would be less potent, and remember these are 2006 prices, the Euro is worth $1.40+ now. Royal (Morocco 0-0+) 10$(8 euro) Temple Balls (Nepal) 10$ (8 euro) Ketama (Morocco 0-0) 9$ (7 euro) Kashmir (India) 9$ (7 euro) Super Polm (Morocco) 9$ (7 euro) Manali (India) 8$ (6.5 euro) Polm (Morocco) 8$ (6.5 euro) Yellow (Lebanon) 7.5$ (6 euro) Red (Lebanon) 7.5$ (6 euro) Afghani 6$ (5 euro)
You can ask them when you get there. Personally I hate smoking cheap hash, gives me a headache. I don't really think it's about Weak vs. Strong... it's easy, just start by smoking very little and see how you feel. Dont go burning through half a gram. Take a hit, wait it out, reassess.... That being said all the hash I've smoked has usually been smoother than weed.
As a general rule cheaper is lower quality ideally you want to go for blonde pollen. Avoid the Bulldog coffeeshops commercial tourist crap.
Thanks for the replies all. I like the sound of the "take a hit, wait it out, re-assess" approach. I'm going to ask them for one of their less potent varieties and smoke real slow and just take it hit by hit...
Go to Cafe 420 near the station, just off damrak and buy some ketama. It's good quality and not too strong. You can also buy nice ready made joints of it in there.
Never Seen any Soapbar in amsterdam , been there 5 times , never once saw any Soapbar, I think soapbar is just the low grade crap they sell in the UK to pass off as hash, plus I hear somebar is often "cut" with sand, shoe polish, and even ground up glass, but I have never personaly smoked soapbar and I sure as hell don't want to try it.
I just don't understand this, and why it's this hard. Get the most THC/other cannabiniods the hash has been assayed for that you can for your money, then adjust the amount of hash you smoke to correlate to the amount of cannabiniod you want to ingest. You could EVEN calculate an exact dose of THC, using the pot you already smoke and it's estimated quality. I mean, lots of modern pot is as strong as hash anyway, really.... You won't even see much difference in doses, if you've never smoked anything that strong the head of a pin should be plenty for EITHER type of hash. I personally would suggest just settling down in your room or somewhere, and taking a REAL toke, get the spinning out over with, toke to that point some more, pass out, wake up, toke, and then proceed to enjoy your tolerance and ability to enjoy being super stoned.
^^^ Agree 100% with that..lol,,don't get the weakest hash and smoke, get the best hash you can and smoke less, do it right and it's cool..
I know exactly what you mean. And I do not agree with RooRshack, certain strains will definitely have different effects on you. Generally I find the Indica strains to give me a well rounded and happy high while the high potency sativa strains can give me panic attacks and anxiety the next day. I never had any problems at all until I got into my 30's. When it comes to hash though, I dont get panic attacks like I do on some strains of Skunk. However, I recommend you go for Nepal hash. It's more even that the other varieties and I've never had any problems with it at all.. just a nice mellow and happy high. I would probably avoid the Ice-o-lators and SuperPolms
