The first Beatles album and also the first (conceptual) album I ever listened to was "Sgt. Peppar's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
I was 11... it was Revolver..!! Fuckin awasome album..and it was the first record i ever listened. I was in love with paul's here there and everywhere..!Haha. Later ive changed my tastes..and now i love more songs like tomorrow never knows, she said or taxman
When I listened to "Sgt. Peppar's Lonely Hearts Club Band" I was first introduced to Progressive artistic rock and later I started listening to Yes.
You wouldn't know good music if it stabbed you in the face with a spoon. I got Revolver last Christmas, that was the first time I ever heard an entire album of their's, and I was just blown away! Taxman, I'm Only Sleeping, and Here There & Everywhere had so much impact on me.. British guitar pop to this day is still my favourite genre by far, all thanks to that album, and Morning Glory which I also got at the same time.
You're freaking insane. If it weren't for that song, The Rolling Stones would never have even thought about recording Their Satanic Majesties Request or Between the Buttons, all pop bands would've continued to sound alike, and the psychedelic movement most likely would never have become as big as it was. The impact that song had on pop music and music in general, just like the rest of the album, is incalculable.
I think Abbey Road was the first actual album of theirs that I got. Before that I had the red and blue best of cd's.
My first contact with the Beatles was through my High School Music teacher. She was a huge Beatles-fan and gave us the assignment to study "Let it Be" (the song, that is). After that I heard "O-bla-di O-bla-da" and "Back in the USSR". I was 12 at the time, but the next couple of years I had no intrest in exploring them further. When I was 15, I "reconnected" with them, through "Sgt. Pepper's". My father urged me to listen to his LP of the album, and I found I loved it. After that, I didn't rest until I collected all Beatle albums; which took about a year. And Taxman rules. Almost all songs by Harrison for the Beatles rule.
i know you dont listen to good music, but have you listened to any song on that album besides the first track?
No, I haven't listened to that album because always Beatles albums are too expensive. I usually buy cheaper albums, once in a while I will buy a more expensive one like when i bought the Rolling Stones "Aftermath". I think "Revolver" is a great album but I just don't really like that song "Taxman", but don't get me wrong it is a lot better than many songs I've heard (such as the ones on mtv etc..) however I prefer other Beatles songs more, such as "Hey Jude", "Sexy Sadie", "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" etc. I am sure "Revolver" has many great songs better than "Taxman".
Revolver is The Bealtes best album, man. Every single song on it is epic. I'm Only Sleeping, She Said, She Said, Doctor Robert, Got to Get You into My Life are amongst my favorites.
The first Beatles album I ever had was "1", when I was a sophomore in high school and had just started getting into them, but the first original, non-compilation album I owned was Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, I do believe. I got it for my 17th birthday and I remember it always came along with me to speech tourneys. Many a night I fell asleep on the road, listening to Sgt. Pepper.
