what year is it now? i know mine i've had 15 years (maybe 2-3 before that) amnd i know some folks who've had em over 20-25 but i guess yea it started being more & more common sice the 80's
as for where to get them, i dont even understand the question since you dont get them, you let them happen
others may tell you different & give ya alot of tricks to firce em.. but patience is the real key

it takes time... after several weeks it will start to knot up,. then just keep seperating the individual clumps..it will take a couple months to really tighten up

Thats correct they became popular in the U.S in the 1980s but not the 60s or 70s.

Dreads were mostly Rastafarian/Jamaican. I don't think anyone in America in the 60's wore them...

I think this might be a bit counter-productive but why must you have to insist on categorising people, can't you just look at someone and see a human being?
    Sorry for the rant.

How did you come to that conclusion? I think that humans are infinitely more complex than any car. I don't understand what you mean by "crawl back to that glass wall house"? If you meant that people in green houses shouldn't throw stones then I still don't really understand what you mean. Also if you read my post it's getting more at preconceptions and sterotyping.

It doesn't really make sense in that it suggests that "hippies" were some kind of instituation governed by consensus normals and values, just who are these hippies?

Well, gee wiz man. sorry to piss any one off. Here's how i saw things, tell me if im wrong: Hippies do exist, some have dreads. it wasnt always that way.

And i dont know who said it was "a hippie thing", but it wasnt me. i think its an everybody thing, except for squares.

    peace, as always.

What's a hippy and why is it so special that they must have dreadlocks?

Once again why isn't it a thing for squares? What exactly is a square?

p.s I'm very well aware that a square is a 2D shape with 4 sides which are all equal length.

In your world people are the same value as cars. Its obvious you don't know what you're talking about so I'm just going to leave it.

Why can't Jewish people have dreads? I didn't think the ability to have knotted hair depended one what religion/race you were.

Also what does " crawl back to that glass wall house" mean?
