How much is too much ?

I'm sure the question arises in so many aspects of life. For me, the question appears when quantifiable consumption is (attempted to be) measured. How much coffee do you drink? How much tea? Oh my, doesn't that seem excessive? I mean, that's a lot of caffeine.

Caffeine: How much is too much?.
According to an article published by the Mayo Clinic,

"How much is too much?

"Up to 400 milligrams (mg) of caffeine a day appears to be safe for most healthy adults. That's roughly the amount of caffeine in four cups of brewed coffee, 10 cans of cola or two "energy shot" drinks. Keep in mind that the actual caffeine content in beverages varies widely, especially among energy drinks."

Do YOU know how much caffeine is in your daily coffee or tea? I sure as heck don't.

I also like soup and have decided to drink it 2 or 3 times a day. Yup... I sometimes have soup with breakfast (generally bean soup). "Isn't that rather heavy?" "Isn't that rather fatty?" Well, bread and butter can be considered fatty. I don't remember the last time I had sausage or bacon (I try to stay away from meat products in the early morning... except maybe a small amount of chicken). "Chicken for breakfast?"

I think about so many things that I don't have in my life such as alcohol or tobacco. I don't have weed as part of my daily routine or lifestyle and I'm not interested in hearing about their virtues. I've seen way too much bronchitis and emphysema in my life to say anything good about tobacco. And I've also seen some wack-a-doodle altered states of consciousness brought about by ETOH, pot, pills, and snortables.

Oddly enough, the folks who look at my shopping cart and judge me are also equally horrified when they learn that I weigh or measure most of the foods that I eat. I have a food scale, lots of measuring cups, and a few sets of measuring spoons. And, to make matters worse, most everything that I measure is in metric system metrics. Bet you don't know too many people who tell you that they eat 56 grams of pasta for supper, topped with ΒΌ-cup of diced unsalted tomatoes, do you?

Lyrics to a Mamas and the Papas song that used to be a favorite of mine.

Well, I'm at the tail end of my celebration of birth month (30 days of eating with friends in the month of April) and a gal named Kitty is going to be calling me for lunch.

Ciao, belli !
