Boy, could I create a long list of verbs to fill in the blank !
Smoke
Bite my nails
Rub against the pole in the subway car
Many of us, I reckon, would categorize the sentence/statement as something suitable for the 12-step paradigm.
"Hello. My name is Duncan. And I'm a(n) ____."
"Welcome, Duncan!"
Smoking is something that began when I was in the latter part of high school. So, let's say 17-18. I gave it up officially when I bought my home at age 42. So, 42-17 = 25. That's a quarter of a century of tobacco consumption. Now, mind you, there were intermediary times when in those 25 years when I had put the habit on pause. However, this last stint has been unbroken for 24 years. So, technically, I've been smoke-free / clean for probably more than not.
I think the notion of clean is based on what others consider to be toxins. I've come across a good share of vegetarians, vegans, health food proponents. They might claim that processed foods are substances from which a person should aspire to cleanse. So, what are the processed foods in my life.
Hmm... I guess anything that's in a can or a jar that has ingredients other than the thing itself, right?
Well, that would be most dairy products, prepared meats, pickled vegetables, and creamed foods. Then, you might also add all types of soup and many desserts. Nothing is left behind!
What would I do to cleanse my diet... that would be suitable for a different blog post.
