More Thoughts.

Like I tell people, I keep thinking back to 2004 and that ironic movie then, the Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino. I was interested in it around 1999 or 2000, and then the people in my life, especially our probate lawyer, said they heartily endorsed its message. I could be wrong, but even at that time it seemed like he meant more. Like he was anticipating the trust, and even what was set up with Eric in the trust. Things even at the time I suspected but never was sure of. Things my aunt said she suspected but also wasn't sure. And then the ironic timing, that movie came out that horrible year that I will never really move on from. Anymore than I ever will after that incident on the playground in the 6th grade when I found out I was too ugly to beg. That horrible year and the seven years that followed that almost ended tragically at times. And that movie and play with its ironic message. I wondered at the time if our probate lawyer or others even bothered to read it or see the movie. Mercy, justice, hypocrisy, the fact that certain laws are above this sceptered sway like Portia says in that famous scene and the dual meaning of the golden rule too. That you should treat others the way you wish to be treated, but then why would you think the justice system will be merciful to you after you've done the opposite? It all seems like a dream, then and now. And yet somehow it is all really happening.
