Pineapple on the Pizza

What makes a person an expert or connoisseur of cuisine? Sometimes we just like what we like. Our tastes can be the normal, everyday tastes that makes us happy. For me, it's a breakfast of mildly seasoned beans with rice for breakfast with a soft, runny egg mixed in for protein. I also like Wasa crispbread and a slice of cheese. For lunch I could eat a tuna sandwich every day with one or two pieces of fruit on the side. And for supper? Pasta with meatless red sauce and turkey balls or maybe peas or beans.
I lived in NYC for many years, so I'm familiar with most of the common toppings. Veggies are usually bell peppers, mushrooms, onion, or olives (which area fruit). Californians are known for adding spinach. Then there are meats such as sausage or pepperoni. Anchovies always seemed like overkill to me since they are highly salted.
Not sure when I first saw or heard this, but Hawaiian pizza is the one with the pineapple and Canadian bacon. It is disposed by the masses. I, however, love it. It mixes sweet with salty. And I am no stranger to ham steak with pineapple.
I also grew up with pineapple mixed with cottage cheese. Personally, I don't believe cottage cheese needs any help (unless you want to do it on your own), but to each his own. When I think of a race of people who find 'mis'-appropriation of their cuisine, I'm reminded of the non-Jewish person in a deli who orders corned beef on white bread with mayonnaise.
