Satan Married Her to the Menendez Brothers

"You must be some special kind of crazy!" I often thought myself saying to that childhood friend of mine.

She was head-and-shoulders brilliant above me. In high school she would read Shakespeare without the need of translation devices or guides, write poems with streams of consciousness. She would read the Tarot with no experience. "I'm a natural," or "I have a feel for this." And--of course--there was her music! She also told tales of how she would converse with G*d and Satan... often times not being able to tell them apart since Satan was such a trickster!

...

I began to write extensively about my friend, Lor. Lor is short for Lori. She used her common law right to shorten it (it's cheaper that way). She said that Lori sounded too Jewish. I was prohibited from ever mentioning her middle name, Ruth, because that was even more Jewish sounding.

"Ruth's story is one of enduring loyalty and faithfulness despite facing immense hardship and loss. She exemplifies how finding strength in G*d can lead to a new beginning and a blessed life." (AI Overview with no more revealing source... how condensed!)

She did have a voice coach who had her study operas. I think the only reason he took her on was so that she would take care of his beloved poodle during the summer during which time he would be on the Continent.

She couldn't read a note of music. She'd get the records from the library and accompany it with the libretti. "But you are just parroting whatever the recorded singer is singing." She argued that whatever was being done by her was new, fresh, and original. "But you can't know what is meant by the composer if you can't read the music or haven't read any of the writings about how the composer composes."

She'd dismiss me as a plebeian with a vague and pedestrian understanding of music and the Arts. All I knew was that she liked toking weed and I could often hear the dryness and crackle in her throat.

Lyle and Erik MSN are up for release from prison. Lyle is 57 now and Erik is 54. When they carried out their crime, the brothers were 21 and 18, respectively.

Lor claimed to have been married to them. Not sure if it was to one of them or to both of them. The marriage occurred on the spiritual plane. She couldn't contact them because her long-distance service had been disconnected. So she telecommunicated across the country (NY to CA) and they communicated back in kind (CA to NY). Sometimes Satan would interrupt the call or pretend to be the brothers. Or maybe it was the other way around. She said that Lyle could be very sadistic, and, at times, he would stick needles into her eyes as she slept.

Our relationship was strained over this. "You don't believe me, do you?" she would ask. And I would say, "I believe that this is real to you and that you believe it." I couldn't do anything more than be honest.

My relationship with her ended in June, 2016. I went to visit her for my Mother's birthday and she let me stay there. I took her out to dinner and to nice cafés. She wanted to eat somewhere elegant. Not always easy to do on a budget, but I did save money on where I was staying so I agreed to splurge. She wanted to drag me to a place far away where they had open mike (microphone) night. I opted out. She accused me of not being supportive of her art. We never spoke again.

We had had separations in the past. I had always been the one to return to her and to ask for her forgiveness. Her friendship meant a great deal to me. I also imagined that she didn't have all that many friends and she could scant afford to lose anyone. This time, however, I agreed to myself not to follow that path. In the past nine years I sent her two post cards from my travels. Yes, I write post cards. She never made any attempt to get back to me.

S H R U G

I don't know if she is following the case of Lyle and Erik. The two have married (Lyle had married and divorced). I never thought much of them. I left the home I grew up in and never went back.

That's about all I can say about Lor, Satan, and the Menendez Brothers.
