The woods are lovely, dark, and deep // But I have promises to keep

Sometimes I read old blogs for inspiration. Or I read old blogs to see what my major life obsession was. Or I read old blogs to see how much I have grown or evolved over time. I can't believe that I actually wrote how worried I was about keeping the promise to myself that I would brown bag lunch every work day.
These days I have been doing it rather religiously. What's more, the things that I pack away might have two or more things that need re-heating. That means that we are talking about good nutrition; soup on one heating cycle and then maybe something like pasta or beans and rice.
I participated in a Beltane service last night with my local Witch and Pagan Network. What struck me funny was when the organizer was looking for someone from the group to read the part of the high priest. Some men in the group don't like to claim the masculine pronouns, or they don't like reading in public, or they're worried that if they have to light a candle, they won't be able to get the fire stick started. I wound up raising my hand after the request for a volunteer was made a second time 'round.
Today is Sunday which means it's probably a day that offers church service. The order of service is sent to us via email and today's service explores ways we work toward a common good through counter oppressive justice ministries. Living in a democracy is not an easy undertaking. In fact, I am rather amazed at how many people seem to work at destroying what we have. Those who are in positions of authority or power often seem silly, stupid, ignorant, and unashamed at their lack of common sense. These are not the folks whom I want for spokesmen/spokeswomen of me or my lifestyle.
