we had a "Ned Flanders" in our street years ago but he moved ! he used to stand out on the front door and blow a whistle and his kids ( two boys ) would come running from wherever they were playing , Our kids used to laugh like fuck at this ! his wife only ever used to come out at night and wear a long black coat skinny woman nobody knew what she looked like and she used to walk three steps behind him and the kids .
no idea what happened to them or when they moved ?? no one ever spoke to them anyway

........... and this is why I technically don't live anywhere. Who wants to have to put up with neighbours who will do this to people? I believe this is called harassment.

hahaha i like your threads , always interesting...

there is a great lesson to be learned from the "ned - homer relationship" and it applies to life in general:
while - superficially - homer seems to be the "cool" guy, or "hero" in the cartoon , he is in fact the looser and miserable.
Ned on the other side, remember?, is always happy and positive thinking. Rude comments of homer does not seem to bother him. Because Ned sees life from a bigger lens. Ned is always healthy, calm, positive. Homer is quite the opposite. People like Ned do not expect a "thank you" in return when they give out. Nor do they expect the other person to give something back. They simply give out to enrich themselves and blossom.

Homer’s relationship with Flanders, as well as Flanders and family’s depiction, is representative of how the writers view the church.

My first thought to the title of your thread is that ned really does, "turn the other cheek", as many Christians are supposedly told they should do.
