Anyone who has followed this thread will notice that one of the main arguments of anti gun control folks like machinist is that the pro gun control folks are merely pushing a leftist agenda and that this debate is therefor needlessly or overly politicized. Also, pro gun control folks are brainwashed by the Democrat party :p
But if you read this thread its also clear that the anti gun control folks are rambling far more from a political perspective than the pro gun control folks. The pro gun control folks (who are undecided on the exact approach to take. They only agree that taking or banning all guns is out of the question. It's mainly some gun nuts who keep talking about that option :p) also seem to consist of all kinds of people. Some left leaning, some right, plenty a-political. Some very knowledgeable on guns, some far less. But one of the main points by anti gun control folks remains that pro gun control folks are all or at least the far majority anti-gun people who know nothing about guns and/or hunting (and certainly don't own a gun. Oh yeah, and they're all leftist liberals of course) and therefor try to render any pro gun control solution as useless.
This is not a matter of 'not being so good in wording my point', this is more like 'i don't have a good point; therefor i try to ridicule and stereotype the people with an opposite stance as me on this matter'

I'm sorry man. But she rarely sounds like that. You however should reread most of your own posts on this matter and see which person could use some constructive criticism . You seriously make the worst arguments in here.

Its funny that you try to render your convo partners with opposite stances as useless boneheads with that tactic, but actually make it apparent it is you who is chronically lacking sense, is going ad hominem and merely can stereotype. Carry on ;)

Your insights are amazing considering you don't even live here. Not going to lie. I can't even name the political parties in Holland.

Is the internal US gun debate something the average European pays attention to? It's like having a spot light shining on our imperfections.

I don't know about the average european, but a lot of people in the Netherlands do. Almost everyone here has some (often distant but still) relatives in the States. We generally get at least as much news from the US as from our surrounding countries. Definitely more than european countries on the other side of Europe. Another reason is we had close ties with the USA since WW2. On several levels: economic, pop culture, 'being part of the free world'. Many americans have been oblivious to this since the far majority of americans never looked much to other countries than on a superficial level.

I don't live in a high crime area at all presently. Never really have. But you still have to deal with unknowns in your travels.

To you. Which is understandable. You're just proving my point with posts like this btw.
Stereotyping and going ad hominem strongly imply you got nothing else.

I know well what you're talking about. You talk about your own self interest. You (ab)use the 'its my right as an american' argument for your own self interest. Same when you play with the individuality concept.
The majority of pro gun control advocates do so not primarily for themselves, but for their fellow citizens. They acknowledge the concerns of other people in their society and are willing to adhere to it. You do not because its mainly about you.

That's why I wish we could all get on board. Some states won't recognize your license to carry. You can legally carry in your home state, cross the state line, and suddenly, you're in violation of the law.

Makes me wonder what would happen if--God forbid--someone finds themselves in such a state and has to use their gun to defend themselves. You get some anti gun people on that jury and self defense has the potential to cascade into manslaughter.

Stop trying to drag america down to your level.

This is where you bring in statistics to say well see Holland is actually better.

And then thats when I say yeah the only time you can point to another country as an example for better than america is a country that is more white than america.

I find it ironic how people view America from other countries. They base what they believe a lot on media exposure. I once had to travel to a job that was not on U.S territory and had no real presence there other than our site that I was sent to make a repair to. For some I was the only American they had actually ever seen. They thought they understood what I was like because for reasons I still never got, they saw the series Dallas on Satellite and assumed that we all lived like that.

I just got back from Mexico. Stayed in a pretty nice place. The TV had dozens of Spanish channels obviously, a Spanish version of CNN and the American version with Spanish sub titles. No other American channels available. So you leave there realizing that they want to tell me how to fix my problems based on what they see on CNN. They have no other point of reference. No wonder they hate Americans......lol.

Its been the same in most foreign countries. I remind them that there country has been around for hundreds of years longer than America has, yet they have never become world leaders and have never had to assimilate the number of people and problems into our land that they have in theirs. Yet the world doesn't look to them for help when they need it, they look to America. Good or bad I wonder why that is?

Youre kind of proving my point that youre just have an elitist mentality and like to make intellectual arguments even though you dont really know anything and act superior to everyone else who doesnt play by your rules. Im done entertaining that crap.
