    What I meant was that those types of guns couldn't be sold by manufacturers while the ban was in place. If the ban was not allowed to expire there would be fewer assault weapons now.
    The 2nd Amendment is about the right to own arms. Not glorifying certain types of arms.
    Mac, do some research. I looked up several studies, which by and large were inconclusive. If I get time I'll cite them for you.
    Automobiles are not designed to kill people or animals, they are designed for transportation. Sports cars are regulated and allowed by law if they meet certain specifications. There are many types of automobiles that are not permitted on public highways.
    Drugs can be easily made, assault weapons are made in factories and are highly complicated machines.
    Then you and I disagree as the only purpose of a TEC 9 is to kill people in a highly proficient manner.
    Barrel shrouds are designed to protect the shooter from burns when the barrel heats up due to rapid and continuous firing. It's a military option, not needed in a civilian gun.
    Legally an assault rifle has selective fire, not an assault weapon.
    Assault weapons and rifles are designed to kill, wound, and supply suppressive fire. There are different types of assault rifles and assault weapon designed to excel at different things.
    I never said you can't hunt or target shoot with an assault weapons. I said they aren't needed for those purposes, there are other options.
    I consider a ten round magazine to be high capacity.
    By high velocity I mean a velocity capable of killing an individual combined with the other features of an assault weapon.
    Pistol grips make the gun easier to handle with or without training. It's a military option, not needed in a civilian gun.
    Yes, pistols are more compact than An AR 15 style weapons and many are on various assault weapons bans.
    Shooting form the hip is used in close quarters when aiming isn't needed due to the massing of targets in limited space and the high rate of fire.
    Silencers are stupid...no reason to make them lawful.
    Bayonet lugs are banned because you can attach a bayonet to them. Bayonets are assault weapons. You use them in close quarters to stab people and originally horses. It's a military option, not needed in a civilian gun. Triangular and serrated bayonets are banned by the Geneva Convention.
    Muzzle breaks are designed to minimize barrel climb due to recoil. Something you don't have to worry about when hunting as you aren't engaging in a high rate of fire. It's a military option, not needed in a civilian gun.
    I never said Bump stocks turn a semi auto into an automatic weapon. I said they simulate an automatic weapon by increasing the firing rate beyond what the gun was designed for.

    My post listed factors that many assault weapon bans use for determining if a weapon is an assault weapon or not.
    Do the research yourself and see if I'm right.

    I probably have a lot more experience with guns and gun owners than you think. I don't know them all. Many opinions on many topics I am sure that is how people are. Sorry if I implied you are all the same.

    I used to have a .22 Ruger semi-automatic rifle with a ten shot clip. I assume you're opposed to that.

    Explain how you differentiate between an assault rifle and an assault weapon.

    Explain your aversion to silencers.

    Any semi-automatic is an assault weapon when used to assault. If I wanted, I could saw the barrel off a rifle and fix a pistol grip to it.

    Definition of what’s actually an 'assault weapon' is a highly contentious issue

    According to the Ohio example, as long as it's not 10. 30 is more than 10, so probably not. With the Ohio ban, there would have to be something to prevent people from buying both ten and thirty round magazines online.

    ALREADY COVERED please address the outstanding criticisms of these arguments instead of just repeating crap.


    Debate is meant to be linear someone presents an argument, the presentation or statement is criticised, then the next step is the person addressing the criticisms or if unable to do so adapting or dropping that argument or taking back the statement. The problem and reason why so many arguments involving the gun lobby go circular is because they refuse to address the criticisms but also refuse to adapt or drop their argument.

    Please address the outstanding criticisms
