Rockets with a thrust above 80 Newtons come under User Certification by the National Fire Protection Association Code 1127, the Code of Federal Regulations, the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and the safety codes of both the National Association of Rocketry and Tripoli Rocketry Association.
This certification may only be granted by the NAR and TRA.
A Federal Low Explosives User Permit requires a type 3 or 4 storage magazine under inspection of the BATF. It also requires a BATF background check and interview.

Launching requires landowner or public use permission and insurance. The launch site is regulated by the NAR and NFPA.
Any rocket which exceeds a mass of 16 ounces or contains more than 4 ounces of propellant falls under the Federal Aviation Administration regarding airspace clearance.

All motors (rocket engines) must be certified by the NAR, TRA, and NFPA.

    No it doesn't.
    You said it did.
Because you are trying to say that just because guns and cars are alike in one way it follows that they are alike in all ways.
The The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute is a private organization, not a Federal organization. They can't make laws.
The manufacture of an AR 15 by a private individual would be against the law.
Laws could be passed in regards to the current AR 15s in public hands.
Gonna hold off the entire Mafia or what?
No one said you don't have to have a reason.

I never said the M1 Garand was on an assault weapons ban.

Bolt action rifles have different purposes than assault weapons. They are the preferred weapon of snipers for a reason.
Early semi automatic weapons were hard to load and not very popular. There weren't a lot of them sold to the public, especially rifles. In 1994 it was estimated that semi automatic rifles only made up 5% of the total of all firearms.....
    See above.
You stated that you don't normally see the banned pistols being sold in stores. I said you don't see them sold in stores because it would be illegal to do so as they are banned.

How many bullets would you recommend I keep? What is your problem with pistol grips on a rifle?

Still doesn't take away from the fact that you can own and launch one as a private citizen.

Abortions are designed specifically to kill people. And they kill way way way more people than guns. We should outlaw abortions.

    How so?

For one I misspoke. I meant to say that gun control didn't lower crime. Secondly I didn't said that. I've stated that despite the claim of more guns eqyal more crime, violent crime has dropped while gun sales and ownership has increased. While I can't say with certainty one caused the other, I can say that the amount of guns is not a factor to the amount of crime.

No, I'm saying that in the context of banning things to save lives, logically speaking, we should also ban cars as well or at the least ban sports cars.

Fine. However they do a good job of regulating themselves in making a safe firearm.
Not if they are willing to break the law. And how are you going to emforce it in the first place?

    Such as?

I want to prepare for that, yes. However as I said, it may take multple shots to take down one or two badguys. It's not like in the movies where the good guy can shoot a flea off a dog's hair at 50 yards and stop every badguy with just a single round. Sometimes the badguy is drugged up, sometimes you just miss becayse you're trying to hit a moving target while under high stress. I rather say "I'm glad I had more ammo" than to say "I sure wish that I brought more."

Both for the debate and legally, you have to. For the debate, you must convince people that a commonly owned object is too dangerous and need to be banned. For legallity, there's the constitution, the supreme court and congress. You must convince the three branches of government that the ban is necessary and in accordance to the constitution.

All of those were banned either due to politics or failure to meet US road regulations. Besides, you're talking about specific models. What I'm talking about is entire brands and classes.

Never said you did. In fact my point was why is it ok for the M1 Garand to have a barrel shroud but not a TEC9?

Yeah in modern times, but back then the bolt action rifle was the M4 of today. It was issued to every soldier to fulfill the same role as the modern M4 rifle.

They had Tommy guns in the 20's and nobody was shooting up schools then.

My point is why don't you want to ban the Glock 17?

We've gone over pistol grips ad nauseam.
If they don't do anything, you should have no trouble getting rid of them.

What it boils down to is that you don't agree with the way laws are made and you don't agree nor understand the role the federal, state, or local governments have in regards to public safety.

You seem to think that the individual's rights always superseded the rights of everybody else.

Finally you don't seem to understand that the government can regulate anything that it deems dangerous to individuals or society and that it does this by making laws. Some of the laws are regarding firearms and the government can and does define what is dangerous about them.

Concerning pistol grips, if they don't do anything, then you should have no problem with them. But you do have a problem with them. So, is it that shooters are more able to shoot from the hip and be less accurate (which doesn't make sense), or does it simply remind you of an automatic weapon, and you don't like that? State your case.

There are probably 5 million AR-15s in the U.S. How many have been used in school shootings? How many have been used in mass shootings?

How many bullets do you think is a reasonable amount for me to have?

I think the reason for banning pistol grips is both well thought out and a good idea. The intention of the person wielding such a weapon (with forward pistol grips) is not to use their weapon for its intended purpose.

I think you know what I'm talking about. The way you hold the weapon.

I have started my case repeatedly. I have listed facts and web sites pertaining to pistol grips and their function.
I do have a problem with them, you don't. I'll rephrase, if you think they have no function you should have no problem with banning them.

    Same with the AR 15.

    Same with magazine limits.

If they serve no function, then you should have no problem with them. You think they look scary, so you don't want anyone to have one on their rifle. The truth is that they serve an ergonomical function. Do you believe that making the grip more comfortable for the wrist is what causes people to decide to shoot other people?

Storch, do you read what I post?
I'm the one that said they have a function.
