Rosenstein ready to be fired. In private conversations he has stated: "Here I stand", in reference to Martin Luther King Jr.s' "Here I stand, I can do no other." Meanwhile a bipartisan group of 100 former Department of Justice career officials have issued a statement telling Congress to be ready to take action.
Comey calls Trump "....unethical, and untethered to truth and institutional values." Trump's leadership is "transactional, ego driven and about personal loyalty." The George Stephanopoulos interview airs this Sunday on 20/20, ABC 10 PM EST.
American military forces are famous for abandoning all kinds of hardware as they pull out. So much of it is managed by bureaucratic processes that it's no wonder weapons are left behind as well. Consider also that plenty of black marketing happens while US forces are still in place. Some people have actually enlisted specifically to funnel materiel to the highest bidder. That's one of the problems with having a massively bloated military machine with so little oversight. For all we know there's an underground warehouse filled with tons of methamphetamine, waiting for the next REAL war.
There's an almost subliminal subtext to your post that needs to be called out. You imply that those liberals at the NYT are warmongers and are praising Trump because he used military force. Or did I misunderstand what you were trying to say? Let us remember, it wasn't liberals who got us simultaneously into the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and facilitated the rise of ISIS. It was G.W./Cheney? Rumsfeld and the Neocons-- Neo-CONSERVATIVE ! such as John Bolton, Trump's new national security adviser.
While everyone was distracted... Trump order targets wide swath of public assistance programs By Nathaniel Weixel 04/14/18 09:20 PM EDT Trump order targets wide swath of public assistance programs excerpt: "The Trump administration is seeking to completely revamp the country’s social safety net, targeting recipients of Medicaid, food stamps and housing assistance. Trump is doing so through a sweeping executive order that was quietly issued earlier this week — and that largely flew under the radar. It calls on the Departments of Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture and other agencies across the federal government to craft new rules requiring that beneficiaries of a host of programs work or lose their benefits. Trump argued with the order, which has been in the works since last year, that the programs have grown too large while failing to move needy people out of government help."
Cohen ordered to disclose client list by Monday Trump's longtime personal attorney went to federal court to stop prosecutors from looking at materials seized in a recent FBI raid. By LAURA NAHMIAS and JOSH GERSTEIN 04/13/2018 09:11 AM EDT Updated 04/13/2018 06:45 PM EDT Cohen ordered to disclose client list by Monday "NEW YORK — Lawyers for President Donald Trump and his longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen went to court Friday trying to stop federal prosecutors from getting at private material — but wound up with a judge ordering them to disclose Cohen’s client list in public. U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood on Friday ordered attorneys for Cohen to hand over a list of Cohen’s law clients and proof of their relationship by 10 a.m. Monday, so she can decide whether materials seized from Cohen’s office by federal law enforcement agents last week should be protected by attorney-client privilege. That list will be a public record, Wood said, because the identities of an attorney’s clients are not subject to attorney-client privilege unless the mere name itself would reveal the kind of advice sought or given. Wood’s order raises the possibility of further embarrassing disclosures involving Cohen, who is already at the center of a legal dispute involving adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, who is suing the president to void a nondisclosure agreement negotiated by Cohen concerning a sexual encounter Daniels says she had with Trump in 2006."
I don't see how you could claim to be American when you wish harm against your fellow poor, disabled, old vulnerable Americans? What I see in this Republican Trump government is an increase in racial discrimination and a big increase in religious discrimination and a giant increase in national origin discrimination and a staggering increase in discrimination against the poor, the homeless, the disabled, and the old. Republicans only want government to serve rich white Judeo-Christian men. The Blue Wave cometh. I even heard Jim Comey might run for president.
And the oddest thing---republicans STILL get elected! Does no one see the "principles " that have always guided the right wing? The constant loyalty to the 1% , the constant disdain for working people? The fealty this man Blump wants those around him to have , instead of to the American constitution? I think that americans are going to find out some amazing and thought provoking results from Mr Mueller.
How you can assume I mean harm to anyone because we need to revamp our social programs is only your mentality. I have heard from the left since Bush about how they are going to hurt the old etc. Hasn't yet happened . And I don't see Trump saying he is taking anything from the elderly. That's just the left showing their hat that the freebies might end for them. What's UnAmerican is having social programs that is used for multi generations as an entitlement to stay poor.
I am working people. I support working people. We need more of them. More jobs that produce something. Less jobs that push paper and money around. Ask these folks how they feel. The Future of America’s Economy Looks a Lot Like Elkhart, Indiana I wonder who they will vote for?
OK. Then you must understand the difference between how Dems and Repubs see and treat working people. I am working people too and one thing I don't like is the right to work BS. I have worked union and non union jobs. If millions of living wage jobs were available to the citizens of this country--I think that the need for food stamps, medicare (we need single payer) medicare and seniors NEEDING social security to get by would be obviated and this would be a more even handed and in fact , civilized country. I certainly agree with you about the god damned paper shuffling with shareholders clamoring for more, more, MORE profits on everything including the very basics.
Ayn Rand might say---this is the way things ought to be. Do not feel guilty about greed. Greed is good and the poor are in the way of those whose sole purpose in life is to accumulate vast wealth. Those are the real AMERICANS. Of course, since she lived on welfare the latter part of her life------well, never mind. The incremental dismantling of this government continues incidental to said acquisition.
Where and what are these freebies you guys think "the left" is getting? You think 50% of the country is scamming the "freebie" system? And where are these people who choose to be poor? Really curious where you're finding these people
I never stated a percentage. Lord knows we have to be careful when we site a statistic. Let's take one concept. Trump wants to make drug testing as part of qualifying for social help from food stamps. He also is proposing that if someone is able bodied and they wish to receive social help, they provide some hours of community service. Why would anyone be opposed to this? If one can afford drugs, then one can afford food. If one is able bodied there are plenty of ways they can provide community services in exchange for help they need. If not doing this makes these the Freebies you refer to then yes they need to be reformed.
