OK I can accept that concern but keep in mind the size of their population. They have a drug gang problem and they should deal with it in additional ways.
I live in Southern California, but not in LA. Even though I am a liberal, I would never vote for Garcetti. He is as phony as trump. Yes, he is smarter than trump, but so is my dog. The republicans will pick him apart and leave him as roadkill. The other thing is that he is latino. Are people in red states ready to elect a latino for president? bottom line, he has no chance.
You havent caught on yet that Trump plays the fool while he is ten steps ahead. "We mistake the once and a half witted for the half witted because we are capable of appreciating only one third of their wit." Thoreau
Your premise was that Mexicans were unwanted here and consequently you want a concrete wall, not a cyber wall. Now I need to know where you get the idea that Democrats are against Trump's wall because -in your mind- they wish to bring Mexico's drug gang killings to this country?
I never said you did. Youre the one that said I hate Mexicans and have not provided substantial proof.
S Simply that passed greed on the part of government has not taken into account the impact that third world imports were having on industrial areas and left hard working citizens without jobs that they took a pride in. Leaving thousands of people with cheaper products on the shelves, but without jobs or the money to buy them with. We have experienced exactly the same situation here in the UK. Running a country successfully is far more complex than just just satisfying the greed of the everyday people, without looking to either the long term impacts or the international monetary outcome. Taxing third world imports (that are often produced by almost slave labor that we chose to ignore), will reduce their financial impact on the countries domestic economy, while at the same time give the government available money to restructure the industries that have been most affected.
So you want a big concrete wall but you love the Mexicans , just concerned about their police stats? OK, I was just thinking of the poor, hungry, huddled masses of Meskins.
Trump's proposed concrete wall isn't going to solve the immigration issue. Most of the public and Congress realize this, which is why it hasn't gained any traction and why resources for security are being directed elsewhere. If Trump was a great negotiator ahead of everyone, he would have already gotten Mexico to pay for it. He was steps behind on that one and failed. Then he tried to get the Congress to force the U.S. taxpayers to pay for it. He was steps behind and failed. He made it sound like he might have vetoed the spending bill as a way to try to nurse his bruised ego. He retroactively said he'd never sign a bill like it again. Now he's playing an underhanded game of trying to shift U.S. taxpayer money in the military to pay for it and hasn't succeeded. In a similar failed money-shifting ploy, this is the same great negotiator who hired a lawyer to try to cover up a porn star affair by taking out an equity loan on his house and setting up an LLC in Delaware, known for its bizarre business laws that serve as havens for shady activities. Trump and his lawyer couldn't keep their mouths shut and blew what cover they had which contributed to an FBI raid on the lawyer. He's now trying to defend himself by hiring the has-been Giuliani after a month of rejections by numerous other lawyers who wouldn't take the case because of his incompetence. Trump stated that he thinks drug traffickers toss 60-lb bags of drugs over a wall which might land on the heads of U.S. guards on the other side, which is why he thinks a transparent wall is needed. It's useless to try to carry on a meaningful exchange with such a person.
A better approach to the immigration issue is to address the economic and political unrest in Central and South America which is part of what makes people seek refuge elsewhere. Trump has said little to nothing about it other than calling them shit-hole countries. He made an idle threat about sending the U.S. military into Mexico and Chicago to straighten out their problems. Such statements have appeal with some voters who don't care to grapple with the realities of the world in an intelligent manner that could actually solve problems. Trump is against activities that are solving some of the economic problems of Mexico, such as joint automotive ventures that involve Germany, the U.S., and Mexico where all parties benefit. Such an arrangement provides jobs for all of the countries and it improves the economic situation for people in Mexico. Trump's response was to threaten Germany with a 35% import tariff on their cars if it continued with a BMW plant in Mexico. BMW is the biggest exporter of cars in the U.S. and many of the parts that are assembled in Mexico are made in the U.S. Trump seems incapable of grasping such details. Trump and his old school economic crew of people like Lighthizer, Navarro, and Ross (some of whom are in their 70's and 80's) have an ideological disdain for multilateral, multicultural, modern, rational solutions in an economy that is now a part of a global, interdependent web. Trump thinks he can solve complex problems with walls and unilateral use of tariffs and the military. His administration is using a tactic that circumvents Congress by appealing to obscure sections of laws that were written as far back as the Truman era of the 1940's that made reference to national security issues, and he's using them in ways for which they were not intended. The past few decades have shown that the damage done to the U.S. economy is usually more than what was gained by a particular group when using such approaches. The steel tariffs imposed by G.W. Bush are an example. Trump cancelled his planned attendance of the Summit of the Americas in April 2018 which is a venue where issues such as trade and immigration can be addressed and resolved. Trump cited that he couldn't attend because he was busy that week making plans to bomb Syria.
I seems to me the greed was shared by corporate big wigs and the decline brought about by them refusing to update their equipment, factories, and production methods, instead opting to maximize short term gains. When the Detroit auto makers wouldn't listen to W. Edwards Deming he took his ideas to Japan and turned her industries, that had been devastated by WWII such as Toyota and Sony, into global powerhouses. They did it themselves, the greed of management, not the government.
What you say is true and their are countless other examples, both in the US and Europe. But where does the REAL blame lie. We elect a government to control our interests and well-being as nations and the most vital part of their job is to control the big corporations that supply our goods. Ensuring that they have the ability to keep up with the rest of the world and provide jobs is a vital part of that control. Instead they are more interested in paying dividends to their already rich shareholders, at the cost of the country and ultimately its people.
Obviously it means that Trump is going to save Detroit. No wait, it means that because bad things happened under other presidents, Trump is good. Maybe it means that everything is shitty and there's nothing anyone can do? Ummm... does it mean that all government is bad and having an incompetent piece of shit leading the country doesn't actually make a difference? Well, whatever his point is, it's not a strong one.
How so? I assume you mean Democratic instead of democratic (small d). Even so, the plight of Detroit is a reflection of the ups and downs of the American automotive industry and white flight to the suburbs, leaving the inner city bereft of funds. Democrats had nothing to do with that. For further analysis, see Thomas Sugrue, The Origins of the Urban Crisis , and Nine Reasons Why Detroit Failed
This is a consistent behavior of Trump. People of Oklahoma trusted Trump and he used them as pawns for the sake of him spiting Obama by sabotaging healthcare. Trump, who is supposedly ahead of everyone, has offered no plan of his own, in spite of promising beautiful, low-cost healthcare for everyone. Trump thinks that people of Oklahoma will happily take punches in the face, similar to how he said the American farmers are great patriots who will endure pain for the sake of Trump claiming that he is trying to get them something better. Similarly, Trump used DACA recipients as hostages to try to get ransom money for his wall while claiming that he is interested in a 'bill of love' to promote their well-being.. Oklahoma blames Trump officials for higher premiums By John Bowden 09/29/17 09:06 PM EDT Oklahoma blames Trump officials for higher premiums excerpt: "But on Monday, the letter says, Oklahoma officials learned that approval would not be issued that day, and received no timeframe for the waiver to be approved. "Three days later, beyond health plan commitment and rate filing deadlines, Oklahoma is forced to withdraw our waiver request due to the failure of departments to provide timely waiver approval." Cline blamed the administration for causing higher rates for "thousands" of Oklahoma residents. "The lack of timely waiver approval will prevent thousands of Oklahomans from realizing the benefits of significantly lower insurance premiums in 2018." President Trump has frequently threatened to end key ObamaCare payments and let the program "implode.""
