Well, of course it is almost completely symbolic. Kim isn't going to give up his dynasty any time soon, and if he tried to join the UN or something he would have to answer for his human rights violations... and the South doesn't want the economic burden of rebuilding the North, assuming it would even open up its borders. For all we know, the North Korean media is telling the people that the South has allied itself against Trump and the US, or that he has finally brought Trump to his knees. I know China gets away with human rights violations, but North Korea isn't China, and can never be China.
I'm not sure why you think the two Koreas trying to reach a peace agreement is such a bad thing to us guys. I think rational folks have good reason to be skeptical. This is by no means the first time that North Korea has agreed to things only to break the agreement. They may be inclined to talk because they've already completed their nuclear testing. They have already gained a degree of legitimation from Trump, who unlike his predecessors, is willing to sit down with them without significant concessions. He's already called the bloodthirsty tyrant mass murderer of his own people and family an "honorable" person. Trump wants desperately to have a symbolic event to bolster his prestige on the world stage, and he is a neophyte when it comes to nuclear agreements and North Korea. So there is a real possibility he'll be snookered, and then what will he do? He also seems to be about to pull out of the agreement with Iran, which could negatively impact the talks with North Korea. A nuclear treaty in the hand is worth another in the bush. So I'm not sure why you think the peace agreement with Iran is such a bad thing to you guys. Is it just because it was concluded under Obama, or is it because Israel doens't like it? But hope springs eternal. If he pulls it off, I'll be impressed.
It's not, unless, Trump actually paved the way. If that happened, then it's evil and must be countered immediately. As unhinged as I see left nuts getting these days, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd rather see the Koreans return to shooting at each other just to prove Trump wrong.
I actually think those "left nuts" arent really considering Trump at all because they realize Trump's "role" in this is just empty political theatre anyways I know this left nut job is capable of weighing the situation without thinking of Trump at all. The world doesnt revolve around Trump or the US. And when I weigh it...I just wonder if the world is just going to sing kumbaya with Kim Jong-un and forget about all his disgusting human rights abuses
I wouldn't be surprised if you had to make up shit that wasn't even remotely true in order to keep your 'leftists are bad' narrative going. Oh wait, you just did it.
The MinjuDang (party currently in power in S. Korea) have always been about co-operating with the North. Trump had nothing to do with the series of high-profile scandals that have plagued their political opponents (who are pro-US and take a hardline stance against the North) recently and removed them from power. The sanctions have probably hit the North hard but to say that this is all Trump is typical ugly American arrogance, shitting all over the efforts made by the S. Korean government... which is especially tasteless after Trump scared the shit out of them with all of his nuclear war talk.
Leftists ARE bad, that's why true liberals want nothing to do with them. Which is why leftists have to resort to bullying and hyperbole.
Which is exactly what you just did. There are people on both sides of any issue on the planet who use 'bullying and hyperbole'. The fact you only seem to take issue with it when 'leftists' do it says more about you than anyone or anything else. Couple that with your own generalization that all leftists are bad and they do this sort of thing? YOU are part of the problem.
You're wasting time trying to get personal with me. I fully expect you to start calling me a republican NRA member with a swastika flag on my car. After all, I'm a white man living in Georgia, so I MUST be in the KKK. Right? Anyway, I just wanted to see you squirm and you performed spectacularly. Thanks for the show left nut.
I don't think the world is going to forget the human rights atrocities of North Korea. But it comes to a point where we can't keep living in the past about it either. For example, would it make sense to keep vilifying or even punishing Germany and Japan for WWII?
There is nothing personal about it. I pointed out your hypocrisy and now here you are playing the victim. Really, if you're going to display the very behavior you're decrying in the same post you're decrying it in, sack up when someone calls you on it. I mean look how you are assuming I'm going to make personal insults, then proceed to do it yourself. Really, you need to display a modicum of introspection to avoid looking foolish.
This post is confusing. The human rights abuses in North Korea are still happening. We arent talking about a nation that has worked to overcome the sins of its past. Kim Jong-un still rules over an authoritarian dictatorship. Nothing has changed.
He asked to be credited at least. Trump asked Moon to give him public credit for pressuring North Korea into talks He just tweeted some nonsense and got got out of the way of Kim Jong Un fulfilling his policy goals, which is still obviously better than war. *slow claps*
